We chose the movie Malcolm X. It is an epic 1992, biographical drama film of American activist Malcolm X. Lee adopted the research about Malcolm X from autobiography as told to Alex Haley .so, this movie fits in biographical drama but not an autobiography. The movie presents Malcolm X's story from street life to being a hero including his love life, political life, religious life, and controversial life. the film has every component that a biography genre should have. The movie shows the different phases and different lives he adopted throughout his life. The film has his shift of emotion, love, political vision, spiritual beliefs thought, and enlightenment which is very common while drafting any biographical movie. Talking about a few notions from the film reflecting its genre is, first the places of filming.
Spike Lee toured his audience through every place Malcolm X went in search of his answers. Filming the place in Mecca, Egypt, New York gives the movie a life that Malcolm X lived. Secondly, the movie pointed out a clear view regarding the nation and religion of Islam. Also, the movie is adopted from an autobiographical book that has the real life of Malcolm X talked by himself in more than hundreds of interviews. The movie had a vast influence over the world. For sure, the movie was able to present a positive impact on viewers. The movie carries the struggle of an Afro-American hero for the shake of freedom and equality in the meantime of racial discrimination and violence, which is itself an influence among viewers. In the movie, the peace revolt is shown which is a very mature and smart way of showing strong objection to the political status. The movie also subconsciously presents the increasing importance of raising the awareness and intellectual state of black lives. The movie carries a great lesson that a single person with a good mindset and spiritual mindset alone can contribute to changing the face of the whole nation. The movie has Nelson Mandela speak at the closing scene of the movie talking about why Malcolm X needs to be remembered and why his life is important.
Taking everything into account I think the movie was very touchy and important. Spike Lee has done an amazing job biographing Malcolm X's life. The victory of Mr lee has to be making it at all. Despite Malcolm's controversial life and the financial problems in the movie, he has done a great job reflecting every important of Malcolm's life moments. The places where he filmed the scene were smart things to do. The betrayal of his people while shifting towards the right path was shown brilliantly. Personally, what I found is that; although the movie carries various characters and an unusual phase of the journey of X towards intellectual and spiritual enlightenment, after that movie just rapidly flows to the end without mentioning the agenda and plan of X. This is part where Lee did not take ease. But overall I find the movie very good. The places where he filmed the scene were great. The betrayal of his people while shifting towards the right path was shown brilliantly.
Working in a team is always a tough job to do due to the diversion of ideas and work styles but is always a great opportunity to learn. In group work, I would make sure that everyone is equally participating for that I created a Google doc to share any brainstorming ideas. Which later is discussed and the most efficient idea is chosen in no mean of time through e-text. The improvement I can contribute is to recheck everywork thoroughly and check for any errors and misunderstanding in. subject matter. If anyone has missed a class willld inform you about the discussion that he/she missed at the class meeting. I would send every information going on so that every member remains up to date about the presentation.
