Stanley is an overweight boy in a poor family. His dad tries to create an invention to make it so your shoes don’t smell, but he was mostly unsuccess in doing so. One day, as Stanley is walking, a pair of shoes owned by a famous baseball player falls into his hands. Cops then come to his house and find the shoes. Now Stanley has to go to jail or Camp Green Lake. He chose to go to Camp Green Lake. He travels a long way on a bus to a dessert. So much for the name camp ‘Green Lake’ because it is neither green or has a lake. As he drives by, he sees many boys doing hard labor and digging large holes. As Stanley gets dropped off, he sees how grueling it is for the boys to dig these holes for their punishment and starts to regret his choice! Stanley then meets Mr.Sir a mean and grumpy man. Mr.Sir warns Stanley about the Warden Walker. Stanley also meets Mr.Pendanski, another camp supervisor. Stanley What if you were a boy that was wrongfully convicted of a crime you didn’t commit and had to go to jail or there was a second option which is to go to a place called ‘Camp Green Lake’ and dig holes till your time is up. That’s if you even make it that long.

In the fantasy book ‘Holes’ by Louis Sachar, you will take the role of a boy named Stanley Yelnats who has had horrible luck his whole life and his parents blamed it on his great, great grandfather who needed to take a pig to the top of the mountain to fall in love with a girl but never did make it to the top in time, so a curse was put on him for the rest of his generations to have bad luck. In this riveting book, Stanley, as always, was in the gets assigned to tent D. The boys in his tent don’t really like him. He took the bed of a kid named barf bag who left early as he was bitten by a snake. Stanley would then see how hard it was digging the holes in the hot dessert only getting a certain amount of water that barley lasted them the day. Taking cold timed showers, and sleeping on uncomfortable beds. Life was rough at camp! Stanley then makes friends with a kid named Zero, or that is at least his nickname because he can’t read. Stanley said he would teach him how to read if he would dig part of Stanley’s hole. Zero agreed. They start to make a stronger and stronger bond over time. Will Stanley’s life becomes better with the help with Zero but you will have to read the book to find out.
