The complexity of computer software and its manipulation in various tasks always intrigued me, I feel that the need to create and innovate has always been what I've looked for in a career. Finding out that with Computer Science as my Undergraduate course, I would have a lot of these options open to me, really helped my choice; As Computer automation, Artificial Intelligence, Cellular Technology, etc. is where my interest lies. I believe Computer Science will open me up to a whole variety of engineering fields such as Data Mining, CyberSecurity, Artificial Intelligence, System analysis, and the most. I want to pursue a career in either Artificial Intelligence or cyber security as I feel equally interested in both. I am aware that with an Undergraduate in Computer Science, I will be open to specializing in any one of my choosing via a master's course. This is one of the reasons for my choice of this course. This subject is very interesting as it is constantly growing and developing year after year, so you always have something bigger to look forward to.
I've grown up being influenced by the constant change and advancements in technology. AI (for example) used to allow only the simplest of decision-making, now with many yearly updates, companies like Google have enabled complete human-like interaction with just user preferences. The technological industry will not remain stagnant and it keeps getting fascinating. I am keen on knowing how massive software systems of large businesses and companies like Google and Microsoft work in the way they do, seamlessly and flawlessly with all of the delicate functions that they are comprised of and in conjuncture with a network of other systems. What the back-end of it is like and what can be done to bring change and development in the system. In my IGCSEs, I had chosen subjects that would keep me open to continuing with engineering to A levels and beyond. I had studied Math, Physics, Chemistry, ICT, D&T, and Business in my IGCSEs, where all my basics in computer information and technology were firm from studying ICT. Keeping good grades in all subjects qualified me to move over to A-levels where I chose the subjects: Math, Physics, and IT in AS and continued with them in A2. Covered all basic and Extended calculus along with Statistics and Mechanics in Math. In IT we discussed more of the complicated and recent technologies in theory, and in our practical in AS; we covered Excel (Automated systems, Functions, Macros, etc.), Access (Created forms, Reports, Filtered and sorted data, Created cross-tabs, etc.) and light Sound and Video editing. In A2 we went through Adobe Animate, Adobe Illustrator, and Photoshop and are to do more over the year.
I have worked on several small projects as a hobby, I made small animations for 3D Models that I either made or used from the internet, which I rigged (Technical term). I started level editing in the editor to make 3D landscapes. I used those models and animations to create a cinematic scene using blueprints inside of the Unreal Engine 4 editor. I mainly followed tutorials on their site and using the assets I had, I ended up creating a small third-person free roam simulation. In a summer vacation, I attended classes for C++ and learned basic code in the IDE. With what I knew after the course, I created short riddle programs using C++. I thoroughly enjoy sports and have played a lot of table tennis and football over the years. I have even taken part in a tournament in the UAE for table tennis last year. I also enjoy reading philosophy and participating in debates. I know I can achieve more with this course! I want to contribute to the ever-expanding industry of technology, open doors of innovation, and help bring change to how we do things In how we can do them better.
