My goal of becoming a Nurse has been my dream. I watched my mother as a caretaker for quite some time. The love and passion in her eyes when it came to helping and caring for others in need, was admirable and inspiring. My mother came into this country illegally. Because of those circumstances, her opportunities to further her career were limited. Aside from the roadblocks she endured in life because of her citizenship status, my mother worked hard to provide more opportunities in life than what she had. At the age of 12, I lost my mother. Losing her changed my life, It made me appreciate everything my mother did for my sister and me at a greater level. I became part of a larger family. As the third eldest child I cared for my younger siblings and my niece and nephew. It became a task to watch over 5 younger children when everyone was at work. Taking care of others has been a significant part of my life ever since.
As a future student, I know that fulfilling my duties requires more than just eagerness to help others. Growing up the memory of my mother has pushed me to try and become better as an individual. For this reason, Last year, I obtained My CNA license through the Temecula School of Nursing. For 8 hours a day, we would go into an Assisted Living Facility to assist with ADLs. Having the privilege to continue my educational journey through APU’s Nursing program would be such a great opportunity. The empathy I learned from experiencing such a loss firsthand, and skills helped me to connect with my patients and their loved ones. Working alongside other CNAs and LVNS helped me to realize that this was the field I wanted to pursue. I am ready to take my skills and knowledge to the next level through APU’s BSN program in Nursing. The knowledge I attain from this program will permit me to continue my journey toward becoming a Forensic Nurse.

As an aspiring Nurse, I am applying to Azusa Pacific University because Your University has a low student-to-faculty ratio and a high passing rate for the State licensure exam. After my mother's tragic passing, my beliefs and religion began to lack. Losing a parent at such a young age makes you question so much. I couldn't understand how such a loving, caring person like her could be taken away so suddenly and without warning. Sadly, I questioned my beliefs. However, through the students and alumni testimonials during the two virtual info sessions, I tuned in to, I am convinced no better program will provide me with the best possible preparation to enter this field. While still encouraging me to span my spiritual growth in my Christian faith.
I am looking forward to continuing my college education and am committed to achieving academic excellence as a student in the BSN Nursing program at Azusa Pacific. I greatly value your consideration and look forward to hearing from you.
