People in Central America are struggling with crimes of law enforcement, parenting, and even the way the government operates. What's worse than that is the judicial and executive system isn’t doing anything enough for these people living in Central America.
Central America can do so many things different that can help those who live there to be safe and less stressed. Certain areas in Central America are affected by how they live. I’d hate to be in an area where I’d be nervous to step out of my home to go to work, buy groceries or even spend time with my family at any time of day. From my experience of traveling to my country, I didn’t feel safe, I couldn’t even go to my aunts by myself. It’s sad to hear things like this happen every day in life to those who are affected by it.

To me personally, not many things are discussed about what happens outside of the U.S. America mainly focuses on what happens here inside the borders while we rarely see people here do something to make a difference. The reason this affects me is because I’m from this area and it is hard for me to watch my country struggle the way they are today and have been for decades. Although I grew up here in America, I still have family in Honduras. They let me know what happens daily in their lives and so on. The crime rate, the poor government, and the poverty level disappoint me and the families have to watch and hear the way our people are treated.
One of the things that affect my people is parenting. Parenting results in not giving kids lectures, attention, etc. Parents mainly focus on maintaining a job in Latin areas because people don't have the opportunity and are scared to lose it. Not many have the money over there to reach their goals. Why is that? Parents are busy maintaining a job, no one should struggle and have to be afraid to make a small mistake at their jobs and lose it. Because of this, parents don’t give their kids lectures and encouragement for school and in life. Parents usually don’t spend time with their kids. This isn't the case for every parent in Central America though.
Parenting should be improved in my opinion. Poor parenting skills affect those who grow up without hearing things to learn from their parents. At times kids don’t grow up without a parent(s). It happens here in America as well, every day I see kids make terrible decisions, do drugs, commit crimes, carry guns, and disrespect higher authorities. Where are the parents? It happens everywhere in society, God bless those who know better and make an impact on those around them. We need parents who can maintain a family the right way.
Crimes and violence affect millions of lives to those that live in Latin America. Latin America is best known for committing the most crimes in the world. The worst thing I hear is a Latino people look at Hispanics and think we’re part of a gang or associated with a mob. It bothers me to know stereotypes like these are really being used today in society because of what happens behind the borders of America. Although Honduras is among the most violent countries in the world, crime, and murders are not spread around the country. The article “Latin America is the world’s most violent region. A new report investigates why.” mentions “In 2015, Tegucigalpa, San Pedro Sula, and La Ceiba suffered more than 40% of the homicides in the country.” This is where my family and I are from so imagine what my parents and others had and have gone through on a daily basis.
The Washington Post released the article on April 25, 2018, describing the violence rate in Latin America as the world's most violent region. The article, mentions, “In fact, just four countries in the region- Brazil, Colombia, Mexico, and Venezuela - account for a quarter of all the murders on Earth. Of the 20 countries in the world with the highest murder rates, 17 are Latin American, as are 43 of the top 50 cities.” It doesn’t surprise me that this is something that is arguably true. Things like this are the reasons why Central America is crime-ridden and unsafe. So many crimes are committed each day and it’s so severe yet nothing is done and the same thing is heard about every day on the news. The same article mentioned before by The Washington Post states that “As a result, public trust in police is quite low. The rich and connected often avoid/go around the public-safety system completely, hiring private security guards instead. In Latin America, there are more private-security workers than there are police officers.”
Central American judiciaries are poorly evaluated by the general public. Even after several decades of judicial reforms, and international assistance for judiciaries, judicial independence, and more in general. The efficiency of justice in Central America is in more need than before. The quality of how they operate and solve issues is poor and awful. The Central American Court of Justice was first set up in 1907 to maintain peace and resolve disagreements between Central American states and operated for 10 years in Costa Rica. A couple of years later Central America decided to establish SICA (Central American Integration System.) It was established on December 13, 1991, for taking into account regional crimes, politics, and conflict caused by its people. Today in society in Central America it doesn’t seem as though they are still following order or seeing the purpose of these things created years ago. The purpose of these establishments was for people to be at peace and well-treated.
Central America as we all know like mentioned before the world's most violent region in the world. The crimes committed cause these people to go to jail. The more crimes committed the more people go to jail, why aren’t laws being readjusted to make improvements for those who want a better life instead of always wanting to come here legally to avoid a shortened life? From experience, immigrants come to America because this is where the money is. Believe it or not, the kids of parents risk their lives to come here just to work hard so they can send money from here to Central America so they can be fed, worry-free, and safe. When people travel all they see is how these landscapes and popular areas are common and popular in books. Us Americans are blind and deceived by what is seen and heard and do not know the real story about Central Americans.
I question why there are gangs and mobs and drug lords all over Central America. Where are the police forces and president to prevent these things? It is known from them to see these things and hear them every day but yet nothing is done. Gangs literally control their own city. Drugs are being passed down daily and brought here to America. One of the reasons why Donald Trump wants to build a wall and have us separated from our families. Hispanics in Latin areas are always complaining about how Trump is but aren’t they the real reason why he’s making these choices for HIS people here in America? Trump is doing a better job than the Presidents in Latin areas.
In order to change these heartbreaking events, there are ways to improve. It is understandable that things can’t be done easily just by saying something and it happens in a day. Things like this take time, Central America should take time and reevaluate their judicial system for their people. Arrest those who commit actual crimes, they have a clear idea of who is involved in gangs. Are military forces weaker than two group members they can’t take away? More criminal cases must be completed successfully. “The police and the Public Prosecution Service must make clear agreements about which cases deserve extra attention.” says an article from 2016. Three years ago this article was posted and seen by judges and not once has things changed in these past years. Central America isn't doing its job to prevent these deaths and conflicts between America. The stereotypes laid on these people are always assumed to be those who are innocent and scared for life. Police and military forces should be more concerned about gangs than someone who stole a bottle of milk because he couldn’t afford it. Those who made a serious crime should complete their sentence than do half and be easily released when they see they have bail money ready to go.
People in Central America are struggling with crimes of law enforcement, parenting, and even the way the government operates. Nothing is perfect in this world but there are so many ways to improve the lives of those and ourselves no matter how long it takes. The goal is to see those be happy and sane when they step out of their homes and go to work stress-free.
