“There's nothing more magical than this” (Disneyland). This is one of the slogans Disneyland uses as to be known as the most magical place on earth. From children to adults, almost everyone is obsessed with Disneyland. Disneyland is something everyone imagines to go to after watching movies and thinking it is magical. Disneyland is also known as the happiest place on earth, but is it really? Disneyland is the most overrated theme park. Disneyland is depicted as this magical place, but the reality is that the tickets are expensive, there are extremely long lines, it is overcrowded, and the food is overpriced.

Disneyland is a place where every kid dreams of going one day, and it was even my dream. Everyone in my family told me that it is not worth it, but with me being a stubborn child, I convinced my parents to take me to Disneyland. On way to Disneyland, I had butterflies in my stomach. I was so excited that I did not really sleep the night before. When I went there for the first time, it was truly disappointing. It was the total opposite of what I imagined. It was nothing like what I saw on television and movies. In the first few hours of Disneyland, I was so done that I wanted to leave. I was questioning the entire time that why it was called the most magical place if it was just a normal theme park, just overpriced and overrated. It is so over crowded that it is hard to walk because there were people everywhere trying to get their way through. Disneyland looked like a normal amusement park. I felt like I could have gone to any amusement park and been to the same about of fun in a lower price. I went there all with excitement but came home disappointed.

One of the worst parts of Disneyland was the long pigtail for everything, starting with the gates to enter, the ticket lines, the ride lines, and even the food line. Especially for the most popular rides and attractions. Starting with wait times are typically ten to twenty-five minutes per ride till three hours and sometimes even longer on a busy day. It is insane to wait for a single ride for such a long time just to see that the ride was not even worth the wait. During the entire day, people are not even able to go to all the attractions because of the long wait. There was a single thing that a person doesn’t have to line up starting from rides to washroom long lines. Just standing in line is not the problem it is also the loud voices in the line, such as people yelling on top of their lungs complaining about the long line which can give people a headache. There is often a lot of kids crying because they are tired or they want something that their parents will not get them; this causes kids to have a bad experience rather than having a fun time. There are a lot of rides that have nothing original about them such as the tea cups which can be seen in every state fair and amusement park. Even though this ride features fantastic theming, there is nothing original about the ride itself. On a normal day, tea cups have about a twenty-five-minute wait and the ride itself is only about three minutes it is absurd that you wait twenty-five minutes just to sit in the cups and spin in them which can be done anywhere. Disneyland is more aimed towards younger kids. The park does not really have thrill rides. Almost all the rides at Disneyland are not worth the wait.

Disneyland has expensive tickets starting at hundred dollars for a day, and sometimes even going up, depending on the time of year. The tickets are only for one day, whereas you can get a better price at other theme parks and a better experience for more days. Plus, with the overly priced tickets, the lines are ridiculous. It takes about twenty-five minutes to take a normal ride, and if one gets the fast pass, it can be more expensive. Not only are the tickets expensive, but Disneyland has really expensive food. First, a person starts with waiting in a long line, and then they pay for overpriced food, such as a twelve-dollar hotdog. Paying twelve dollars for a hot dog is crazy, and also, it’s only one meal for one person and one meal. It is truly ridiculous how expensive Disneyland can be. After all that expense you also have to add the plane ticket and the hotel room which is ridiculously overpriced just because it is close to the park. When going on a vacation you always want to buy something as memory for yourself and even family members sometimes but the gift shops are also very overpriced such a buying a simple shirt for twenty-five dollars just because it’s Disneyland. It does not just stop Disneyland even charge for parking spots going from twenty-five dollars to sixty-five dollars depending on the amount of time you park. A Disneyland trip can cost thousands of dollars which can be used in so many other things or another better vacation.

Disneyland is not that magical that people see it as. Disneyland is worth going to once a lifetime, but it is definitely not worth the hype it has. I had cousins that came to me just because they heard and saw Disneyland on television and wanted to go. I even tried to convince them that it is not worth it but they would not listen to me. They saw it for themselves and saw it was not worth it. I guess it not just the word Disneyland that has been hyped up. Paying a hundred dollars for the Magic Kingdom can break the bank. It is not worth the wait or the money. It is better to go to another theme park or do something else with that money. Disneyland is an absurd commercial, hyper-accessible franchise. My personal experience says that Disneyland is truly overrated and does not deserve the hype it has gotten in the past years. After all, the world's most magical place is not that magical after all. A person pays so much for the Disney experience just to find out it is not worth it. Disneyland does not have the charm that I heard about in my childhood. Unfortunately, the quote that Disneyland is 'the most magical place on earth' is not true after all.
