Disneyland Paris is a park that was designed for recreation and it became a center of attraction due to its beautiful sceneries. Located on the outskirt of the city it consists of six boarding house, quaint dining. It also a shopping center as well as two parks namely Disneyland and Walt Disney Studio. It also has beautiful tourist attractions and include: Pirates of the Caribbean, big thunder mountain railroad and Hyperspace Mountain. Pirates of the Caribbean is a boat ride that depicts the history of the pirates when they ruled back in the days. Big thunder mountain railroad is a train ride that traverses the landscape of the Old West while the Hyperspace Mountain is an indoor roller coaster.
The contract for the commencement of the construction of Disneyworld in Marne la-Vallee in France was made between the Disney CEO and the French government in December 1985. The park was officially opened in April 1992. Disneyworld has enjoyed 320 million visits since its inception. It has experienced many visits in a single year compared with the Eiffel Tower and the Louvre combined. It has become a major reference for the family and the tourism industry hosting over nine hundred corporate events in a year. As a result of the services and entertainment offered in Disneyworld, it has received international recognition.
Even though the park has been a Centre of attraction for decades, it has also faced numerous challenges that has affected its operation. This includes staffing, massive debt which due to economic recession in France, unfriendly exchange rates. This has resulted in minimal sales of properties and hotels. Imbalance in Euro Disney’s financial structure has also been a problem and it has jeopardized the existence of the company.
The company has tried working on its transformation majorly on renovating and expanding the park to boost and increase its revenue channel. French language been made the official language of communication in the park unlike before when English was the first language. The company has also lowered cost of ticket and lifted the ban of alcohol sale in the park.
Disney’s filings in the United States have not revealed the results of individual parks hence it has not been possible to know precisely how much of a boost its French outpost got from the birthday celebration. However, EDLH says it still has some way to go as the financial statements acknowledge that there are still “unfavorable economic conditions for the tourism industry in the Paris region, which harmed the economic performance of the company”.
One of the lessons that can be learned from Disneyland Paris is that it’s very important to put into consideration the cultural values of a particular community before setting up a business. Training of the employees is also crucial in any business as it is a form of motivation to the workers and it add ideas and skills to the company. One can also learn that excess borrowing from financial institution has to have a limit.
