Sports account for 60% of these injuries, and schools are the place where one can find a noticeable risk of it. A significant number of school-aged children experience trauma of some sort to primary or permanent dentition. School is one of the locations with the greatest incidence of the occurrence of dental trauma in children. Teachers are generally present at the time when dental trauma occurs; as such accidents often take place during or after school activities. However, they have very limited knowledge regarding the recommended course of action in such situations.

Although these traumatic injuries cannot be avoided the effects can be lessened by providing quick emergency treatment. Also, it will avoid future psychological consequences. This is only possible if the teachers and the auxiliary school staff are trained regarding the management of such injuries.

It is therefore of vital importance for coaches, teachers, and undergraduate students in physical education to be duly informed about the correct first-aid measures. So, school teachers should know basic dental physiology and the treatment protocol for such injuries.

Several studies have been done internationally and a few on the national level to evaluate the knowledge concerning the management of Traumatic dental injuries among different members of the community.
