Introduction

In the past few years, global warming and climate change have been seen the major topic of political controversies. It is described as a struggle between human advancement in terms of growth and betterment in their standard of living and nature. Global warming occurs when greenhouse gases are exposed to the air, then these gases trapped the heat from the sun which results in an increase in the temperature of the Earth. As time passes by, the science making this debate clearer about the warming that has been observed over the last few years is most likely due to an increase in greenhouse gas concentrations. The earth will become warm more than twice in the coming years (Kerr,2001). Thus, the increase in temperature would have devastating results on the Earth.

Popular opinion-media

Global warming has been a big controversy due to the ongoing worldwide debate about the effects of humans on the climate and the policies that need to be made and apply to avoid the unwanted effects of climate change. If the right step won’t be taken by the time then it ends up in the depletion of the entire human race from the Earth. Furthermore, From the poll that was conducted at Yale, 70% of the American public agreed that warming actually happening. They believed that it had increased from 37% to 45% in a year and the reason behind that is human-caused emissions (Scientists Agree: Global Warming is Happening and Humans are the Primary Cause,2017). The statement I believe is totally true, as humans just for the sake of living convenient and luxurious life started building up things that are harmful to the environment. The rapidly growing population of the countries like India and China may be growing their economies fastly but at the same time, they are increasing the demand for energy. For instance, to fulfill the basic utilities for each person production and manufacturing continues and so does demand. People started migrating from small towns to big cities for advanced opportunities and convenient life which is directly related to the increased demand for energy in the form of electricity, natural gas, and fuel for their daily living which further contributes harmful emissions to the atmosphere. Moreover, It has been recorded that since the 1900’s with the contibution of humans, the global sea level has risen around 7-8 inches due to which the coastal communities have been affected very badly as the land is sinking per decade and the sea level is rising (Sea level rise). The two ways due to which global warming causes the sea level to rise are the melting of glaciers which further add up into the ocean water and secondly, the expansion of the volume of the ocean as the water warms which will result in floods and droughts. The salty water will further damage the crops and destroy the ecosystem. The information in the media is not biased as media these days have high coverage worldwide which affects people's opinions a lot. It acts as an alarm that let the people know about the next moves they have to take whereas at some places they flip really well due to the lack of knowledge and deliver misinterpreted calculations which makes the people non-serious and uneducated regarding the awareness they need.

The science

Science is presently not totally opened up regarding this issue as it is the most important challenge for the entire world. Scientists need to communicate more clearly to deliver the exact information that people need about climate change urgently, 56% of Americans are agreeing that scientists are not revealing the truth whether about global warming is even occurring (Hassol,2011). Some of the major cons that have been seen in China due to climate change are less precipitation which results in reduced surface runoff. Moreover, it has a massive impact on the ecosystem of China as well. Climate change made vegetation decreased and affects the secondary and tertiary sectors. It also affects humans with some serious health problems and causes water shortage problems(Wu et al., 2014). From a scientific perspective, the consequence of global warming is climate change due to which several other forms take place like the sea level rise, the storms becoming more frequent, disrupting the ecological system, change the freshwater input which will destroy traditional crops (Day et al., 2008).

Science vs media

The ideas and facts presented by the media sources are different in many ways from the scientific sources as the media sources provide some hoax information that was not even released by the scientific authorities officially. Although, the similarity between both of them was the concept the calculations provided by the media sources were wrong and they were not able to give in-depth or legitimate information. Moreover, the alternatives provided by the media to overcome the impact. Personally, I would like to refer the scientific peer-reviewed sources because their information is accurate and reliable to a major extent whereas if we talk about the most influential source then it would be the media as the vast majority of people are not aware enough of the peer-reviewed sources and more likely will refer the media and rely on them.

Personal opinion

It is totally proven that Global warming is happening and it will remain the same even worse if we humans won’t change our habits. We should need to alter some of the dependencies on the resources that are affecting our climate. Moreover, global warming is continuously changing the Earth’s climate. The best way to control it is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Industries should reduce energy consumption by using other alternatives like energy-saving machinery. Big companies should encourage employees to use green commutes by rewarding them. Reduce the flow of traffic congestion, stop the use of fossil fuels or coal, etc, and plant more trees. These are some small steps that humans should take to control the global warming.

Conclusion

In conclusion, to control global warming all it requires is an initiative from all the nations to come ahead together or start making and implementing some new policies which help in reducing energy consumption and provide humans some alternative sources for their living.
