It measures around 1400 square meters, and is home to 144,705 individuals as of 2018 statistics, with a population density of 79,502. Dutch individuals natively inhabited the neighborhood. Black Americans make up most of the population, constituting 62%, followed by whites at 18%. 18% of the population falls in the income band of $60,000-$100,000, then 17% earn an income along $10,000-$25,000. The youths constitute the majority of the population, with 20% of the males and females falling in the age bracket of 25-34; the next bracket of 35-44 is the second-highest group ranging at 14.3. 58% of the individuals vow never to marry while 28% are in a marriage, and 8% are divorcee marriages. This is an area well-known for its diverse embracement of entertainment, including musicians, actors, and acrobats of Black origin in its over 20 theatres. Religion is well-endorsed, playing home to over 450 churches of different denominations, including Adventists, Presbyterian, and Baptist churches. The City is, however, dominated by high unemployment rates explaining the poverty levels.

Harlem record the highest number of Preterm and teenage births than any other neighborhood in NYC. Its numbers stand at 103 premature birth for 1000 live gravid; the average in the city is 80. Twenty-three teenage births per 1000 live births opposed to the 19 normal rates. Lifestyle diseases (Diabetes-15%, obesity-38%, and hypertension-37%) are highest in Harlem compared to the Citywide rate of 9%, 23%, 29%, respectively. Air pollution due to a high smoking rate is a concern, too, with a high concentration of fine particulate matter in breathing air. A larger percentage of the children in this area are susceptible if they have not already contracted Asthma. However, a plus is for the insurance rate, which stands at 95%.

Racial segregation, poor-housing, Asthma, and underlying health conditions, and poverty hinder effective child-bearing. Structural racism has fueled his belief that non-whites are not supposed to access quality health services; this has also been aggravated by a lack of maternal clinics and hospitals in Harlem that can ease these services. Poor-housing has always been an area of concern as most residents do not prefer siring children to come and live in hazardous conditions (as described by a federal health report). The toxin levels that exist within such environments lead to premature and loss gravid birth. Underlying health conditions like Asthma, diabetes, obesity, and hypertension, make it difficult for medical procedures to be followed during birth. In the end, the stress-induced by such medication leads to premature births and accounts for the high mortality rate in the area- 124/1000. Poverty prevents access to quality health access, which very expensive in America. Such shady health reliance on birth procedures lead to the birth complications experienced in the area. In terms of housing, the State and Federal Governments should join forces to renovate the existing units or build newer quality units that are healthy and toxic-free. Air cleaning practices such as planting trees and reducing carbon emission campaigns should be launched to sensitize the public. Everyday exercises and improved diet should be encouraged with an emphasis on reducing the lifestyle disease effect. This will see most children grow without Asthma which is a major challenge for parents in Harlem

Harlem United Community Aids Center, Epilepsy Foundation of Metropolitan New York, Disabled American Veterans, and Women In Need Inclusion are foundations and organizations that offer a helping hand to the afflicted Harlemians. They provide various aids; Women In Need offer job vacancies to ladies for continued empowerment and better lifestyles. Disabled American Veterans are a group that intra-assist one another to bring back hope to the victims and also survival schemes by food, or shelter. Harlem United Community Aids Center offers shelter to those fleeing from cruel masters, marriages, or homes for children. As a nurse, I recommend my cash-strapped patients get appeals and clear bills or get essential medical services. Also, in case a patient shows signs she cannot afford a quality diet, I can recommend them. I will also establish a formal connection with the offices as an individual if the offices' policies do not permit.

A healthy community reduces toxicity, and anxiety of possible outcomes in the child-bearing process. The anxiety of what will happen when eradicated by keeping a healthy environment will promote healthy delivery free of stress. Toxicity, on the other hand, will reduce premature births. The birth-rate will increase even as more persons will be motivated by the schemes.
