Poverty is one of the biggest issues which needs to be eliminated in a global generation. Moreover, people, organizations, companies, and nations take into account this challenge and we need to face the same direction to solve this problem. Incidentally, there are broad meanings of poverty. Poverty refers to not only the lack of money and the way to access sustainable incomes (Un.org, 2019). I will demonstrate how it is possible to eliminate poverty in this essay. In the beginning, I will describe the main concepts of extreme poverty and relative poverty. In addition to these explanations of each poverty, I will show the differentiation between those two types of poverty through why these poverties will be caused. Next, I will demonstrate my solution for poverty in the age of globalization and how this idea provides positive results to break out of a cycle of poverty. Finally, I analyze my idea to reflect on the good aspects and issues of this idea.
There are mainly two lack in the situation of poverty. We can define money and access to society and resources of living decent level. The definition of extreme poverty is that in the international poverty line, which was adjusted in 2015, a person who lives on less than 1,90 international dollars per day. However, this line is based on the financial values of a person’s utilization (Roser and Ortiz-Ospina, 2019). Various aspects show ‘extreme poverty' but below a certain level of household income, which makes it impossible for a person or family to meet basic needs of life; food, shelter, access to safe drinkable water, formal education, healthcare (Habitat for Humanity GB, 2019). In the current situation, 593 million people are in extreme poverty which is equivalent to 8% of the world population (Worldpoverty.io, 2019). What is happening to the very poorest people on the planet? The definition from the World Bank is a certain amount of income. However, poverty also may lack social, economic, and quantifiable income and properties. Finding a definition of extreme or relative poverty is difficult because it doesn't just involve the economic system, but it is also affected by society, politics, and history. On the other hand, relative poverty is measured in corresponding countries. The relative poverty line defines people as poor if they are if their income is below a certain segment of the income of the person in the middle of the income division (Roser and Ortiz-Ospina, 2019). More specifically, relative poverty is when households receive 50% less than common household incomes, they have some money to gain a low level which barely keeps their head above the water (Habitat for Humanity GB, 2019). However, they do not have enough money to afford to access anything and the basis of living. In terms of quality of life in relative poverty, people in relative poverty do not have a chance to seek to enjoy and improve their self-esteem. This is a feature of relative poverty. In other words, “a form of social exclusion” (Habitat for Humanity GB, 2019). To consider what is meant to be lacking opportunities to constitute normal daily life, people have no internet to access jobs or public assistance and the appropriate clothes to find that job. Because of no chance to be employed, they cannot pay for education. In terms of education, education plays an important role in getting out of the cycle of poverty. However, parents do not consider education as essential because they also do not have good educational experiences. They are willing to pay for education. Accessing decent housing to live is essential to human beings and a bad environment to live in will cause several issues. For example, because of a lack of adequate shelter, they face danger to their health, are insecure, unable to focus on studying, are unstable financially, and have difficulty to intoep to opportunities to make their life better.

I am going to focus on gender inequality and commit to closing the gender gap, which will help eliminate poverty. And also providing good job opportunities. To think about these points, I will show the solution and method. The fair trading industry is the center of attention of my idea and I will especially focus on fashion. First of all, Fairtrade is about better prices, decent working conditions, local sustainability, and fair terms of trade for farmers and workers in the developing world (Peopletree.co.uk, 2019). Fast fashion takes a role in the fashion industry, manufacturing clothes takes after in developing countries which are Bangladesh, China, and Vietnam. The feature of fast fashion is cheap and rapidly changing and consumption. From these points, companies seek cheap labor in third countries. However, in this process, there are many issues which bad working conditions and low pay for hard work. If I only focus on creating job opportunities in developing countries, I will fail in these issues. So, this is the reason why I give fair trading, especially in the fashion industry as a solution. Many women were occupied in the closing and textile industry. Providing job opportunities for women broadly will increase the number of women who have to get into social and economic situations.
This is the process of my solution which shows how it will work to eliminate poverty.
- Providing job opportunities to people in insecure social positions because of poverty. To help those people for economic independence.
- A company that provides jobs cannot pursue only profit. Buyer and employee are corporate with rapport and sustainable dealings. In addition to this, the buyer has to consider about manufacturer's decent quality of life socially, economically, and environmentally.
- For manufacturers, the buyer has to pay enough payment in consideration for workers' efforts which is accepted in each nation, region, and group socially. In addition to this, it is important to be equal to gender differences. there is no gender pay gap through the process of recruitment.
- This job with fair trade does not allow child labor and forced labor. In terms of children, the employer has to look after children's healthy life, safety, and access to education. In this idea, my priority is to provide education for all children whose parents work in this company. there is a considerable problem that manufacturers have not had enough education and because of this, they do not have an idea that education is essential for their children. To prevent this bad habit, the company will give manufacturers, especially those who have children workshop that shows how important education is for their children's future and improve the standard of living.
- No racial and gender discrimination. Employers and companies have to give equal opportunities to everyone regardless of gender, social status, nationality, race, and special needs. Moreover, in this idea, I will pay attention to promoting that women are participating in being a member of socially functional citizens.
- Seek sustainability by expanding the idea of fair trade. The more companies and organizations understand and take responsibility for eliminating poverty through fair trading, the more companies and organizations will be sponsoring this idea. By supporting this fair trading company, companies, and organizations can get reputations which show those institutions consider not only for own profit but also social issues and to improve the world.
As a result of this plan for eliminating poverty, there are several possible positive outcomes. Firstly, this idea creates and provides job opportunities for people who are facing poverty can get income. Through employment, they will be able to start new chapters in their life. In addition to creating job opportunities, people who are part of a company that provides fair trading can get decent working opportunities, which means achieving sustainable income. Regulatingg child labor and considering human rights for gaining education opportunities will develop human resources, especially for children. In real life, many children work for their families and give up taking education. even if they can earn a little money for every single day, it does not prove children's future without poverty. Moreover, lack of education will turn into fragile fundamental social skills and this makes people who are considered relative or in extreme poverty get out of the cycle of poverty. People who will be part of this ffair trading business can get a healthy working environment. The working environment is connected to not only sustainability but also it will realize to give safe for physically and emotionally.
On the other hand, there are some issues which I could think about as the outcome of this idea. The first considerable issue is that the price will be set up as relatively expensive. In the current situation globally, consumer wants to get cheap products, and then, mass-production is currently universalized. This phenomenon makes fair trading business difficult to continue and to be stable with a decent profit. Secondly, this issue is connected to the first issue, but it takes a long time to be stable and effective. Understanding the idea of fair trading is not that familiar and my solution has to be known and make people take action. aAfair trading business can find value only after consumers take action when they buy fair trade products.
Now I demonstrate how to eliminate poverty through my idea which is the universalization of the fair-trading industry. As effects of this action, I focus on the several dimensions which could be reasons for poverty; creating job opportunities, gender and racial equality, education for children, and a good working environment. As you know from this, poverty is made up of several causes and they are mutually inclusive. From my experience, I went to Cambodia and I did volunteer work to build a house for a woman and her family. Having no education, no decent shelter, or a husband who supports her. The responsibility of raising her children falls squarely on her shoulders. As I could see from her situation, there were several issues for her family’s poverty which are gender differentiation for responsibility in housework, domestic violence from her husband, a historical background that cannot get a good education, and a remote area from a central place and no decent transportation system.
In conclusion, think about how it can eliminate poverty, many issues connect each other. And it is impossible to just focus on one specific aspect to analyze a solution for poverty. In this essay, I explain the definition of extreme and relative poverty and how those level of poverty is caused in different ways. In addition to this, it is difficult to make poverty which is extreme and relative to divide clearly. Because each society has characteristics and they have a level standard of living. From this fact, it is important to research and select solutions and ways of taking action against poverty that suit each country, nation,p, and society. In terms of my idea, I demonstrate how the fair-trading industry can provide a positive impact to eliminate poverty from a social, economic, and political perspective. For the starting point, I consider providing job opportunities as essential to get the income which can be a chance to be part of a citizen in each society. Through the process of my idea, I also reflect on educational opportunities for children, promoting gender equality in working places, and seeking sustainable working with good working conditions.
