Freedom is what we desire the most. A kind of idiomatic expression that we badly need and feel. Among the 12 philosophers that were discussed, Jean-Paul Sartre’s opinions about freedom have greatly drawn much of my reflections on life’s realities or experiences and views in life. According to him, freedom is to be seen in relation to man’s defining himself. Being so, man is responsible for what happens to himself. There are no excuses. He cannot blame others for what happens to him. He can only blame himself. However, this freedom of man should not be seen as something which is chaotic and anarchic, he is not only making a choice for himself but for all mankind.
In my case, my kind of freedom is relatable to what Sartre said. The freedom that I need will not be seen in any materials, to a person, etc. Doing the things that I want to do is freedom for me. Once I’m permitted by my parents and family and the universe to do the things that I badly want to experience, I will be the happiest human being alive. Going out of my comfort zone and experiencing a whole new world will be the biggest achievement that my life could get. I could do whatever I wanted in life, that’s what I called enjoyment. Doing the things that are according to my plans and doing all the things that were written on my bucket list is what freedom is for me. It’s my decision, and it is my responsibility for whatever could happen, I have no rights and I can’t blame others for something that could happen just because I want to do the things that I want. I can’t blame them for letting me chase my freedom. For me doing all of those things could help me find myself, it could help me define who I am. It could help me see the things that I ceased to see.

I want to travel around the world. I want to experience other things. Traveling is one of the things that I wrote on my bucket list and that I eagerly want to do. It could be just me, alone or with someone, or with my family or friends. It’s just that, every time I imagined that I’m in my favorite place or the place that I longed to visit, I could just stand the whole day and observe the place and the surroundings and the first phrase that could pop out in mind is “this is freedom, this is life, this is what I need, this is what I longed to feel”. I want to see myself doing all the things that I longed to do. If I’m given a chance to travel or visit a certain place, I will choose Paris, and I will use that chance to do all the things according to my plan and I will make sure that I’ll have happy memories at the end of the day. Having no regrets is all that I really want.
We all deserve to have freedom. Whatever kind of a person you are, we all deserve to have our own freedom. If you have an idea that you genuinely think is good, don’t let some idiots talk you out of it. If there is something that you feel is good, something you want to do, something that means something to you, try to do it, because I think you can only do your best work if you’re doing what you want to do and if you’re doing it the way you think it should be done and you take pride in that after you’ve done it. No matter what it is you can look at it and say “ I did that, I think it’s pretty good.” That’s a great feeling. So don’t let other people talk you out of something you think is good for you, to others, something that you surely can’t hurt other people just by doing what you want to do. But desiring freedom and chasing it aggressively could put us in danger. I know hearing the word freedom is quietly tempting, but we should have our limitations. It’s good to enjoy life, we live in a democratic country, and we have freedom, but look at those people who abused the freedom that was given to them. They were led to the wrong path. That’s why it is very important to have limitations and boundaries in everything we do. God will give us everything that we desire the most, we just have to wait for our time to come. A philosopher named William Langland once said “Patience is a Virtue”. Importantly. we should always remember this verse from the bible; Lamentations 3:25-31 “The LORD is good to those who wait for him, to the soul who seeks him. It is good that one should wait quietly for the salvation of the LORD. It is good for a man that he bears the yoke in his youth. Let him sit alone in silence when it is laid on him; let him put his mouth in the dust— there may yet be hope; let him give his cheek to the one who strikes, and let him be filled with insults. For the Lord will not cast off forever”
