Florence was known to be found during the time of 59 BCE, during that time the original function of it was a place for colonies meant for soldiers coming from Rome. During this time the city was also shaped as a rectangle shaped garrison town with streets formed in patterns of rectangular blocks. Being the birthplace of the Italian Renaissance, this city is famous for its tourism today as it attracts many tourists with its many works of Renaissance art, architecture and monuments. The function of Florence is known to change because of the unique art and architecture it has also coming from the time of Renaissance. Besides that, this city has also invented many performances of art such as opera, this is not only a work of art, but also has meaning behind it. Because Florence itself is a work of art, where many major sites can be seen, walking is a great way to see all of these sites. Because the main sites are also best seen when walking, we are also saving the environment when doing this.
The present-day population of Florence is 707,728 people which is mainly caused by more people falling in love with Florence and its many traits such as the classic Italian lifestyle it has or the many works of art which can be found in every corner of Florence. This classic Italian lifestyle which people fall in love with includes the outdoor markets, which have many fresh foods for good prices as well. This kind of lifestyle is able to make us healthier as the natural sunlight reaches us. Other than that, people are able to eat fresh and locally any time you want as Italy is known to produce fresh fruits and vegetables all year long to keep a healthy diet. Through research, the population of Florence can be seen to increase at a consistent growth rate with no decreasing population records for the past few years. However, in the late 1900s a decrease in population occurred for a few years. The factor causing this would be because of the changes that were starting to happen. This includes the change in becoming a place of tourism worldwide, this may be a problem to some of the people living in Florence, however as time goes on the population has started growing once more in a quick manner. The area size of Florence has also increased with a size of 102.4 km² at the present. The reason for the increase of the area size comes from the influence of new buildings. The buildings that were being built include huge churches, which is really meaningful for the people there as Florence is also seen as a religious city.

As Florence comes in all forms of art, it has come a long way from past years to gather all the works and pieces of art. Coming from the time of the 13th century, the Italian Renaissance was starting to shape. The Italian Renaissance was also found out to be one of the biggest cultural periods coming from Europe, that is the reason why a variety of the most important works of art come from that period. The Renaissance period has gained many buildings which include chapels, galleries and museums which have a very unique style where the spirit of this certain period could be seen very clearly. Through more research, we can also see how the art of Florence has changed and evolved little by little, as Florence art has evolved since that time showing more performance arts such as operas or ballets which would be performed in various modern-day theaters found in Florence, other than theaters the performances can also be seen in public squares and streets which would also show background of Florence’s past.
