Contemporary art is an image or picture created by artists all around the world. Contemporary art is also known as the art of today, it consists of various types which are minimal, photography, earth/land, word, computer, street, and body art. This art was founded when I was browsing the internet to look for contemporary art about breaking stereotypes or voicing social injustice for my assessment. As we all know, different art contains different meanings. Every art created is based on emotions or a way to express the feelings of the artist. The art above is chosen by me because it has the theme of protecting the rights of homosexuals. Therefore, this image is taken from Taiwan on 24th May.
‘Life is not fair; get used to it’-one of the rules of Bill Gates. Life is never fair to anyone, there will always be challenges to face and choices to be made matter what happens we must stay strong and be ourselves. A lot of things could be challenges in life for anyone, in this case with art we’re talking about stereotypes. The world is full of prejudiced people and because of them, many people cannot do what they like due to they will be judged. However, everyone just happens to be the person who will easily judge others by their appearance which creates stereotypes. This is because we are usually not considerate of everyone different or unique. This is why when it comes to breaking stereotypes, each and everyone in this world should take part in it. The art above is sending a message to everyone in the world to notice the problem of homophobia. Although nowadays homophobia cases have been noticed and some countries have started to accept gay marriage there are still other gay people who are suffering from homophobia problems. The world still needs to know that there is no wrong in loving the same gender. We all should know that it is their choice and freedom to love whoever they love. However, it is hard to let homophobia be understanding and considerate to accept homosexuality. Many people say that teenagers are the new generation, they will be controlling and running the world someday so they are most likely responsible for influencing change. And that makes the most effective way currently is to influence the young generations to say no to stereotypes. This art is one of the ways to let all the people in this world start breaking stereotypes and make a change for a better world. Although it is just a normal picture for most people it means a lot for homosexual people, it helps them to voice out what they feel when they are judged for being who they are. No one is restricted to doing whatever they want and loving whoever they love, the same goes for homosexual people. Homosexual people are also human, why not let them have the same freedom as everyone in this world has?
