The theme of leadership has a strong appeal to both those who lead and those who are followers. There are several theories to explain the ideal leader model. But is there a unique leadership model to follow? First, we need to understand the concept of a charismatic leader and then compare the beneficial and detrimental effects on followers of a charismatic leader.

Emotions are affected by charisma. Charismatic leaders can affect the emotions of their followers beneficially by encouraging them and inspiring them to see problems differently, to do their best, and to come up with new ideas. Charismatic leadership consists in setting values and standards and creating the means to guide collective efforts toward goals. The charismatic leader can encourage followers to overcome past performance and self-interest by creating a sense of commitment to goals (Avolio & Yammarino, 2013). The leader's charisma, or influence, appeals to the emotions of followers and encourages their identification with the leader. How can we perceive, that the charismatic leader can engage his followers, through emotion by making them loyal?
Beneficial effects. First, as a leader who brought beneficial effects on followers we can mention Martin Luther King Jr. He was an example of moral and courageous leadership, his dedication to civil rights inspires people to this day. Martin had the qualities of a charismatic leader such as self-confidence, good communication honesty, optimism, and vision which had clear and concrete goals. Moreover, he is still remembered for his phrase I have a dream which he had a much bigger dream than the time he lived (Lussier & Achua, 2016).
Detrimental effects. Second, a leader that brought detrimental effects was Adolf Hitler, he was charismatic to his followers, but charisma cannot always bring only quality this happened to Hitler because his charisma convinced people to follow his dreams instead of following their growth opportunities. Moreover, he could change the values of the followers and he used to have selfish ambition.
Conclusion
We can conclude that the main qualities of a charismatic leader are vision, affection, and communicative power to inspire his followers. Putting yourself in someone else's shoes, and listening to the other person is the best way to know how to act with others. However, when charismatic leaders lack competence, self-awareness, and concern for others, their charisma masks their incompetence. In other words, charisma erodes the difference between perceived leadership and effective leadership. Moreover, too much charisma can have detrimental effects on followers. because like all the excesses in our lives can have terrible consequences.
