Future is a period of time that is to come. (Cambridge Dictionary). Future can be tomorrow, next year or anytime else. Everyone also hope that own will have a bright future. While a child is born, their parents will start to plan their future because they hope their children will have a better future. Planning your future is one of the most powerful and effective ways to attain what you want. Nowadays, there have many people ask that should parents be the one to determine children’ future to make sure their children have a bright future. Due to this, people of various fields come up with different opinions towards this topic. Although opponents argue that children are not enough mature to determine own future but there is argument to show that children should determine own future due to they should make own decision and they must have own responsibility.

First of all, parents should not be the one to determine their children future because children should make their own decision. If children choose what they interested in, they will more persist for long term because they are doing what they like. Children also will be more rejoice to do their favourable job and will not easy to abnegate. Lindesy Christ has mention that a sixth grade student shared 'If you're able to choose what you're more interested in, you're more likely to focus on what you're doing. It's much better” '(Spectrum News,2016). Furthermore, they also will get motivation to perform well in their platform. This is because they want to accomplish their dream. When a children do what they interested in, they will have motivation to complete every tasks that given and they can prove to others that what they have chosen is right so they can motivate themselves. Motivation is a fundamental recipe for academic success. It involves internal and external factors that stimulate desire and energy in people to be continually interested and committed to job, role, or subject, or to make an effort to attain a goal(Gbollie & Keamu, 2017). Thus, the children will more grasp and believe themselves can done well. Children will no grumble on their future because it is selected by themselves.

Next, children must have responsibility to their own future so parents should not be the one to determine their children’s future. This is owing to children will prepare enough necessary research from different way because they need to decide their own future. According to Terry Freedman (2011), research can shed light on issues we didn’t even know existed, and can raise questions we hadn’t realised even needed asking (Jemin Yoo,2017). For example, children can get suggestions from people they trusted like teachers, friends and family, they also can read from newspaper and journal to make sure they have done comprehensive prepare to facing. Besides, children will more understand every situation they faced. Nowadays, every child has their own smartphone so they can get many information from social media. Tartari has state that the teenagers were able to use social media to obtain information about topics like health, education, and to increase the technical skills using the last technologies(Tartari, 2015). In addition, famous people will share their problems and experiences on social media, this can help children to understand their situation that they will faced in future and prevent from repeating the same mistakes.

However, there are still some parents assert that children are not mature enough to do any decision. But this is not absolutely. From Stanford Children’s Health, we know that children who ages 6 to 12 years old develop the ability to think in concrete ways and Ages 12 to 18 is thinking is also known as formal logical operations(Stanford Children’s Health). Therefore, children can interpret what is the future that suitable for them. They know what should they do to achieve their goals. Moreover, children have enough education and knowledge. Children have gain their knowledge since they are kids. They know what is right and wrong and they also know how to think properly. They have enough knowledge to make their own decision. They know what is good for their future. Nunner-Winkler (2003) mention that children already have an appropriate knowledge of morals at an early stage. They know simple rules and understand that these rules are universally valid, regardless of authority and sanctions. They derive their first moral knowledge from everyday practices and experiences (Nunner Winkler, 2003).

In a nutshell, children future is vital for them. It is evidence to show that parents should not determine children’ future as children should decide and responsible to their future themselves. But parents can give some suggestion to their children and support them so that children will more faith in their future.
