Throughout history, scientists have been inventing the simplest things that were huge accomplishments then but in today’s world, they have become a necessity to our world. But the one thing that all of the scientists and their inventions had was diversity. Having diversity within our scientists allowed the world to have some of the greatest inventions throughout history. When people from other all over the world from different cultures and walks of life, come together, incredible things are created. Those new inventions were formed by diverse people and their minds working together.

The word diversity means to me that there is a variety of people or things in an environment. Having diversity in our society today is important since everybody comes from different backgrounds and they’re made differently in major ways. Diversity isn’t just someone’s ethnicity, diversity can be found through someone’s sexual orientation, religion, education, and daily struggles that a person may have to go through.

An example of diversity would be the different people that someone would come in contact with. Those people all have different backgrounds and bring something new to the community and the workplace in subtle ways. Those people, all have different preferences on the music they essentially listen to, what they believe in, and what kind of people they like to be around in their free time. Everybody is their own unique individual, which is important in today’s society. With everybody being their sort of own person, it makes living life better than being around everybody that is the same.

Throughout my high school career, I have had to work with diverse groups of people, which shows that everybody is a unique individual that brings different qualities to a group. In different classes, I have had to work with different people that have other backgrounds and different things that are happening to them outside of school.

Obviously, with COVID-19 and my school-going online last spring, I had to work in a diverse setting by doing all of my school work online and working with my teachers. Most of my teachers had a wide range of experience with doing assignments online. This demonstrates that my teachers were a diverse group of people that had their struggles with going to online school and learning how to navigate online school. Having that experience gave me a perspective and understanding that I can work in a diverse environment and that I’m able to overcome any hurdles that come my way.

Outside of school, I would face diversity through different experiences. One of the biggest experiences that I’ve had to face diversity is through my youth group. At my youth group, we have students that come from different walks of life. Their daily struggles affect their future choices. A majority of the students in my youth group come from a non-believer background or a not-safe home environment. Having students that come from a diverse home life helps other students and the leaders learn about what others have to go through at home.

I would be able to contribute diversity to a campus community by being a positive leader and friend to others. On a campus, everybody has different backgrounds and more specifically they bring something new to the community and the workplace. I would also contribute diversity to a campus community by bringing new or different ideas that people may have not thought about. Which can help others think about other ideas instead of generic ideas.

To me personally, this world could use diversity in very unique ways that allow everybody to be exposed to different walks of life.
