Why I Want to Start My Own Business: Essay

Genuine Temporary Entrant (GTE) 10 August 1995 in Dhamai, a small village in Punjab, India into a Sikh family. My father works in the corporate sector a high position. My mother is a housewife. I have one elder and one younger sister. My elder sister is a teacher at an engineering college and my younger sister has completed her bachelor’s degree in “Computer Applications”. My grandparents also live with us. My grandfather is a retired headmaster from a government school and my grandmother is a housemaker. My friends say that I am a very shy person. I love folk music as well as playing football also in my leisure time. My objective in life is to be professionally qualified and gain some valuable international experience before I start my own business of Construction and Sale of new homes & commercial establishments. I also intend to take up viable profit-making projects in and around my hometown, Hoshiarpur.

I passed my schooling education of 10th standard in 2011 with first division from the state board and 12th from the same board in the science stream. I have done my graduation in civil engineering in 2017. In India a technical qualification in engineering plus a business qualification is considered an ultimate combination, therefore after graduation, I decided to enhance my qualification in Business studies so that I am adequately equipped before I start my own business venture. As the Indian education system lays emphasis on theoretical training, I decided to continue my further study at an overseas university or college where more stress is laid on practical education. For this aim I had to appear for an IELTS exam, I sat for an IELTS exam and I achieved an Overall 6.0 Band. Then I started to search for international universities for ‘Management and Leadership study. I found some universities for management in Canada and USA, but the weather in Canada is very cold and harsh in winter. On the other side, US universities are actually very expensive, so I decided on Australia. I searched for courses in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Queensland, and Perth universities and colleges before finalizing Melbourne as my destination for further study. I chose Australia because a student gets a quality education and the education cost and living expenses are low as compared to other countries. The climate of Australia is also pleasant and travel time from India is less too. Australia would be the right place for me to get good quality education and Melbourne being a metropolitan was ideal for me to experience big city life which will prepare me to face the rigors of life back here in India.

I selected Certificate IV in Business Administration and Diploma of Business course, because after graduation in civil engineering. I wish to start my own Business of Building Construction & sale. A successful businessman should know how to manage and lead the business, but I do not know much about Business and Business Administration. Firstly, I need to get knowledge about administration skills. This is also one of the main reasons why I choose Australian education because it is totally based on practical work. For my career options, I can get some Business & Administrative skills to increase my specialization in Business. I will be able to manage business projects effectively.

After completion of my studies, I will come back to India and start a business related to my education. As India is a developing country, lots of construction activity is taking place in terms of infrastructure development at the national level. This course will help me to start my own Business in my home country. Education is an investment for me that will pay me for my whole life. I would like to say that I have great self-confidence to study in Australia because I want to get higher knowledge in my study-based field. I also want to make my family realize proud of me.
