Circuses are one of the best-known attractions for people. But it’s important to know the truth about entertainment that this causes. Thanks to animals, circuses and their owners gather a lot of money, and it's not because of their beauty. The reason people attend the circus it’s because of the acts of the animals, without asking us about their care, if they eat well, or the love and affection they receive. No one notices the suffering of these animals that are locked up in cages and cannot get out. If people knew about all the abuse, that the animals receive to 'train' them, the circuses and zoos would lose all kinds of attractiveness.

According to the study “Cage Lives by Animal Equality,” there are a hundred facts and situations that manage to demonstrate how harmful it can be for animals not to be in their habitat. The team of caged lives backs up their theory with examples they mention that animals in captivity in tiny spaces cannot develop their natural movements and conduits which are essential for their well-being this is only among thousands of examples of how these human beings are abused. The animals must feel restrained and limited like any human being in prison the difference goes by the fact that they have not made any mistake other than being born as creatures worthy to admire and observe. Not abusing and taking advantage of them by being an amusement for others.

Also, many circuses use wild animals in captivity for their performances, such as bears, elephants, tigers, monkeys or lions. Physical punishment has long been the classic method of training in circuses. Many species are less able to adapt to training techniques than others and as a result, they suffer from great nervous tension during these lessons. Some animals are drugged to be more docile and there are complaints about the mistreatment of animals in training, such as the removal of claws in cats to avoid accidents, or the removal of incisor teeth in chimpanzees. The animals are forced to do things like swinging in the air, riding on a motorcycle, and even having elephants standing on two legs things that are physically uncomfortable and not natural acts. The whips necklaces tightened electric choppers metal hooks and other tools used in the show are a reminder that animals are forced to act in these performances but do not teach the public anything about the animals or their natural behavior. The animals in the circus are always shown as fierce or stupid compared to the bravery and command of their human counterparts their true nature is never proven. Because of this, the behavior of these animals in captivity is full of features such as hitting the head, swinging, or biting the bars of the cages.

Moreover, some of the most important circuses travel for approximately 48 weeks a year, covering enormous distances. The programming of the circuses is made to maximize the amount of shows, not to alleviate the suffering of the animals. In summer, some circuses travel to areas of high temperatures in search of the public, forcing the animals to suffer extreme heat inside the transport vehicles. The same happens in winter with the zones of low temperatures. The animals are transported in trucks or trains. Tigers travel in cages, so small, that they cannot even turn around. In these cages, they must eat, sleep, and defecate until they reach their destination. In general, the animals do not get off the transports as soon as they arrive at the place of the show, this is due to vehicular traffic, or because they have arrived sooner or later than the appointed time. In this case, the animals are forced to wait inside the vehicles for hours under extreme temperature conditions.

Additionally, the circuses with animals suppose, besides clear mistreatment towards the animals, also a danger to citizenship. Their facilities are usually always very close to or in the urban centers themselves and there are many cases in which both workers and people in the public have been injured or killed due to the attack of wild animals that have managed to escape from their cages. Circuses with animals have no place in a society that seeks to promote respect for nature or education in values for coexistence. Fortunately, there are more and more alternatives in which we can enjoy all the charm of the show without using animals

In conclusion, animals deserve respect and more important love. And by finding ways to force the circuses to stop abusing and mistreating animals. In my research, I told some of the findings of the mistreatment and mishandling of animals. These are just a few reasons why people shouldn’t support circuses with animals in the act. Animals as well as humans deserve the same respect. As a human being, we need to respect and protect this living form of life from suffering just because they don’t have a voice to defend themselves and we have the power to do it.

We want a circus, yes, but without animals. Because animals are not clowns.
