This book was written by Neil Gaiman in June 2009.

Coraline, an eleven-year-old girl, was a different girl from the others, she was very curious, and she liked investigating every place she went. One day she had moved with her family in Michigan.

In the condominium on the ground floor lived two sisters a little bit old and retired, Miss Spink and Miss Forcible, while on the upper floor lived Mr Bobo. Coraline in one of her investigations saw many times an old black cat that unfortunately ran away whenever she saw her.

One day Coraline was unable to go out because it was raining, she was bored, but she never actually had opportunities to play with her parents, they worked a lot.

So she asked her mother an advice on what to do, and the mother replied that she could do whatever she wanted as long as she didn't mess up.

Coraline asked the same question to her father who told her to investigate the apartment.

Coraline found a locked one that her mother told her that there was nothing inside.

When she opened it, access to another apartment was barred by a brick wall.

That night Coraline decided to go through the door and go down a long corridor leading to a house identical to hers, where there was a woman identical to her mother and a man identical to her father, there was only a different thing, there were two buttons black instead of their eyes.

The other mother is loving and attentive to Coraline's needs same as the other father.

At the other home, there was an atmosphere of harmony and joy.

But one day the other mother asked Coraline in exchange for the love they were giving, the proposal was to change her eyes with black buttons, as her mother said they would forever be a happy and unique family.

The poor girl who was terrified about it ran away and went to the normal house, but there were no more of her parents, they were kidnapped by the other mother.

So she went to the other house and Coraline immediately started screaming and answering badly to her other mother, so she locked her up in a closet where she met three souls of children who had been manipulated by her.

So she made a deal with the other mother that if she could find her parents and her three poor children, she would forever leave her alone, but if she got lost she would be with her forever with her buttons.

In the end with the help of the cat, she finally finds her parents and the three kids.

When she came back home it was fantastic: her parents gave her more attention by spending more time with her.

I enjoyed this book even though it was a bit strange to read it at Christmas time, I think it's a very interesting book. My favorite character is Coraline who shows courage, curiosity, and ready to know every part of the world.
