The birth of a new civilization. The Islamic society has been built throughout thousands of years. The prophet Muhammad received his revelations around the year 600. Muslims believed that the word of God was revealed to him. Unlike many other civilizations, the Islamic society rose and spread through converters. It started as a religious movement but suddenly became a historical entity, body of knowledge and a physical presence throughout the west and some parts of Europe and Asia. The Qur’an is the Muslim holy book. Also, the Qur’an, describes the creations of God “Allah” and that all individuals are responsible for their acts. Islam spread rapidly across Asia and Europe because it offered a welcome alternative to religious, trade and finance and culture.

The emerged of a new religion. The Arabs were a polytheistic society that worshipped an enormous of gods and goddesses. There were almost one for every day of the year. The author Berkeley informs “what can we say about religious conditions and their social and political underpinnings in Arabia in the decades before the coming of Islam” (Berkeley, pg. 40). The author informs how the Arabs were spinning without direction before converting. The entire way of life that the Arabs knew was about to change by the Prophet Muhammad. The prophet Muhammad was responsible for bringing about the Islamic religion. Soon the polytheistic religion that all Arabs practiced became a monotheistic faith. Furthermore, Islam was able to grow and expand throughout the world because of the prophet Muhammad. The prophet Muhammed became a very well recognized man in the region helping the people of the region to establish the first Muslim Community and religion.

Another factor for the rapid spread of the Islamic culture throughout Asia and Europe was trade. Trade flourished immediately upon the establishment of the Islamic culture. As Muslim landholding people gained the ability to exchange goods using the dirham coin. The author informs “One dominant theme in Western scholarship has suggested that among the most important links were commercial ones” (Berkeley pg. 43). The authors inform that regions had contact with the Muslim trade network covering a significant parts of Asia and some part of Europe. This led to non-Muslim to convert to Islam this allowed to join the ruling group. The rise of a new society can be also affected by trades and goods. If there is a poor way of trade there is no way a new society can flourish. Mainly one of the main reasons why Islam spread out rapidly was because of trade.

Another reason for the rise of Islam was the change of cultures. Cultures were adopting Islam as their main culture. They were learning Islamic tradition. Muslim culture has influenced and assimilated from the Persian, Egyptian and so others. The author informs “the Arabs were drawn into the cultural orbit of the Fertile Crescent and surrounding territories and, in their Muslim guise, contributed to its evolution” (Berkley pg. 50). The author goes on explaining how cultures were mixing up with each other. Also, by mixing cultures, new dialects and architectures emerged. The author informs “it is certain that the new faith can only be understood against the background of Jewish messianism and, more broadly, of the religious turmoil which characterized the Near East at the end of late antiquity” (Berkeley pg. 53). The author concludes chapter 4 by saying that poor rulership ended and society and helped another to emerge. The Adaption and willingness of people joining to the Islam was the key part of the rapid spread of the Islam. Those who believed and followed the prophet Mohammed are responsible for the emerging of a new culture within a society. They carried on their prophet's believes and kept on practicing.

In a period of turbulence and chaos, hope was needed; and the prophet Mohammed was the man who brought hope to a small community which later on turned on a movement that would later change the face of the earth. The rise of Islam is attributed to the poor leadership and bad behavior of previous empires and the revelations to the prophet Mohammed. Islam, as we know it today, emerged and changed history forever.
