In both lost and the lord of the flies they ran into some issues. They are all stranded on an island ,and they have multiple problems including survival how would they survive and how did they survive? Society and organization, how did the rules and having a good organization helped keep them alive? Leaders, who stepped up on being the leader to keep everyone alive. The “beast” and or fear, how did the beast and the thought of fear throw the boys off. There was also internal and external conflict in the novel and the show. Would the island run smoothly without a good society and well put together organization? The system they created kept everyone in line along with the checks and balances. Society and organization played a big role in keeping people alive. The action of performing a well organized society and being organized helped both the lost boys and the people on the island stay alive as long as they did.

Society plays a big role in both the novel and the show. A society is a group of individuals involved in persistent social interaction, or a large social group sharing the same geographical or social territory, typically subject to the same political authority and dominant cultural expectations. According to the novel, “ we did everything adults would do, where did we go wrong’ “I just take the conch to say this. I can't see no more and I got to get my glasses back. Awful things has been done on this island. I voted for you for chief. He's the only one who ever got anything done” (170). This quote further demonstrated the act of a society because, the boys have voted themselves a leader. They also say “ we did everything adults would do where did we go wrong” the boys are saying that they did the best with what they could and having there be no adults on the island, the boys had to work with what they know and what they thought adults would do in this situation. The survivors have to work together to find a way home, and in the meantime they need to create a well formed society. They all work together on the island and make sure everyone has food and no one is getting more than the other person. They are using that they can on the island to survive.

Organization also plays a role in the concept of survival is that they needed to have an organized set up. For example, “ we can use this to call the others.” “ ill give the conch to the next person to speak” this shows me that, ralph is being a fair leader and since everyone probably has a lot to say all at once, the conch is a way to organize the amount of voices that are heard at once. Its civilised. Everyone has the right to say something they just have to wait their turn. They set up jobs for everyone and they needed to keep the fire burning. In lost, they all had to find the food and water that was left in the plane, and put it together. They also had to make sure everyone was okay and that they all had an equal amount of food and a place to sleep. Organization plays a good role in both the film and the novel because, organization plays an important role in life also. They needed to be organized and have everything needs to be in order so people do not get too much power. Everyone needs to be able to feel like everything is under control when in a situation like this. You can not be prepared when you feel like you are about to die.

The novel and the show have a lot in common. The rules affect the individuals at work because, they have to realize that they aren’t at home in a store and or factory. They need the rules because if there isn’t, everything can go wrong in such little time. The lost boys in the lord of the flies and the adults in lost they need to follow the rules so everything runs smoothly since some of the resources they have on the island can run out at anytime. Organization is also a major key when you are stranded on an island als because, you need everything in order so things do not get hectic. Once a civilization goes down, the whole island feels like you are all by yourself. Once the civilization goes downwards, everyone on the island uses hope on ever going home. And once you lose hope on the island then you feel like there is no need to be alive. You start to scare everything because they are not going to have faith anymore on getting saved.

In conclusion, the novel Lord of the Flies and the television show Lost both have come challenges faced. They are both on a plane which the gets crashed. Both have to settle a civilization and society to stay alive. There is a leader who is chosen to watch over and guide the others to keep them thinking and hoping that they will get safe. In my opinion the topic society and organization was the most important topic to cover because all the other topics formed into one. The boys and the adults were all trying to find a way to manage food and find shelters on the island. They both had leaders and some villains. Rules on the island helped keep everything in order and when civilization went down, so did everyones opinion on going home and the hope of everyone. The general theme of society and organization is used in the everyday lifestyle as well. Our country needs to be organized and have a well built society. The country needs to have order and everyone needs to be on the same page. In my essay, I displayed the importance of having a well organized society and why being organized is a key way of staying live.
