It is very integral to realize that the society we live in is very image-centered and it is expected of every individual to look their best. However, this may put a lot of pressure on the individual to look their best but looking your best also improves your self-esteem. Thus in my paper, I will be discussing how investing in makeup and yourself boosts a woman's confidence.
Makeup is a form of art. You paint how you wish to express yourself. You paint your dreams and your emotions. Some paint bright, and some paint subtle; because that is how they like it. Makeup does not take the real beauty rather it magnifies the real hidden beauty. In a woman's life makeup has many roles, it can make you ready to face various situations as mentioned in the book ‘Face Paint; The Story of makeup’ by Lisa Eldridge. [1]
The reason I have chosen this topic to do my research is because women wearing makeup are often criticized as fake. They are accused by saying wearing masks that hide their real personality but in the image-centered society we live in to meet the beauty standards girls do makeup.
According to Louis cosmetics lifts woman’s attractiveness. Also, it mentions the research carried out by Estcoff which proved that women feel more confident while wearing makeup. Also, it mentions the different makeup looks for different situations, you cannot go to a meeting with the same makeup as you attend a party with. [2]
Moreover, according to a study women wearing makeup more than twice a week have a better sleep quality than those who do not. The reason for it is still not sure whether makeup has some content in it or it is just human psychology which is its cause. [3]
Women generally enjoy putting on makeup it is a type of process that cools their anxiety. It is a kind of remedy for women who feel sick. It makes you feel less tired, which helps you to perform better. Studies proved that wearing makeup makes women feel more socially acceptable. [4]
Makeup is a form of creativity where you can play with different colors or according to your mood. If you want to go bold go for dark tones whereas if you want to go for a natural look go for nudes. On days when you are happy, you could go for cheerful colors. Doing makeup in the morning sets your mood for throughout your day so we should choose it appropriately.
There are various beauty products each of which has its benefit. The pink tint or the blush has a very jolly effect on our personality it even makes us look younger. Mascara increases are eyes'' size making them look wider. Just with a little amount of Kajal a person looks less tired. Foundations and concealers have the most important effect studies prove women who wear foundations have higher earnings than those compared do not wear them. You look less tired and also it can hide your marks which you are not comfortable in the world seeing. Certain jobs in the world require us to look presentable hence better opportunities for jobs are available. [5][6]
Moreover, the time you spend doing makeup is your me time. It is the time you only think about yourself which makes you feel good. You relax yourself listen to your favorite music. In the morning when you spend doing makeup, you are mentally preparing yourself for the rest of the day. It is a time when you can meditate and relax. [7]
Furthermore, the society’s beauty standards have increased so much that there has been a rapid increase in people getting cosmetic and plastic surgery in recent years. [8] All these options are very expensive so it’s cheaper to use makeup than going for such options. People want a thinner nose sharper jaw line all of this can be achieved easily through countering. Want for perfect eyebrows can be done with a brow pencil. Going through pain to get rid of any scars can be hidden with foundations so why go for expensive options?
Also to look good with makeup requires people to have good skin. Girls tend to start looking after their skin and start to eat healthy. At night before sleeping properly remove makeup, cleanse their skin, and exfoliate it. They get to know about their skin type and take care of it accordingly which results in glowy skin. Choose makeup according to your skin type for the best results. Always remember to test a beauty product on your palm and then on your face to make sure it does not react in any way.
Makeup comes in different qualities. There are expensive high-end brands also there are drugstore brands that are cheap so one can choose according to her range, likes, and preferences. We should always look for authentic reviews before investing in products so as not to regret them later.
Makeup products contain some useful contents which are good for us. Certain foundations have an SPF that protects your skin. There are wrinkle prevention essentials and many other essentials for our skin that benefit are skin. They moisturize are skin and make it look healthy. [9]
Beauty does not have an age to look good even at the age of 40 you could use makeup. This is very beneficial it makes and makes you younger so you tend to get tired less and work past your getting old so it holds benefits at this age too.
In recent years there has been a sharp rise in the beauty industry. Makeup sales have risen dramatically. New beauty brands are being launched. Makeup institutions are being formed. Makeup artists are opening new saloons and more job opportunities for people so this has an impact on the whole economy of the country. [10]
Makeup is seen as an essential part of theaters when you are trying to depict something. It is a costume that can be worn for fun. You could be transformed into anyone you like with it. At parties, u could wear it to look unique. It holds importance in wide varieties. [11]
Makeup can be a form of respect for other people. When they invite you to their formal, informal, or casual party you can dress up and wear makeup accordingly which pays respect to the other person. It helps you show a better person when you are meeting new people. Also with makeup, you could interact with people more easily.
Moreover, the trend of you tubers has become so common. There are many makeup artists making videos on how to apply the makeup the correct way, this makes it easier for people to learn how to appropriately apply it. And when you have a skill why not apply it?
My research may have convinced you to invest in makeup. Everything has a good and a bad side it depends on how you use it. Just use it appropriately and you won’t regret it.
In conclusion, I would like to say with or without makeup should be our personal preference. It should not be dependent on the type of pressure. Wear to look the person you are. Because you shall remain the same person with or without the makeup. Live your life the way you want.
