Cooper Student Council –
This has been the most meaningful experience for me. Being on the student council has given me the opportunity to serve our school, our community, and even a community in Chinle, Arizona. Chinle is the poorest place in the US that was not affected by war or natural disasters. Once a year, Cooper’s Student Council takes a trip and brings trucks full of food, clothing, and animal feed to the Navajo people.
Another way this organization has had an impact on me was through making Christmas boxes. Each year around Christmas, all of the schools in our district give us the names of the students who might not have enough to eat over the break. Our group fills up boxes with food, water, and any other necessities they might need over the holidays and anonymously drops them off at their houses.

The best part about being in a student organization are you able to give back to the community in a fun and meaningful way. It has provided me the opportunity to engage, learn and lead while discovering my passions and goals for the future.
Leadership
I show my leadership ability mainly by being the captain of the volleyball team. Some players get upset or have bad attitudes and as the captain, it is important for me to show the attitude that we need to have. Leaders should inspire their teams to have confidence in themselves. It is my job to make sure that the team stays working together, with good and respectful attitudes. Team members rely on captains when there is stress or conflict on or off the court.
Another way I show my leadership skills is through my job. I lead a group of Kindergarteners at my church. In my class, I am the only leader who really speaks English so it is basically just me leading the group. I have to show, by example, the children the appropriate ways to act and speak to one another. I also teach the lesson.
Knowledge and Experience
Academic achievements are the result of the hard work and dedication I have shown at school. I have been in the Honor Society for the last five years. Not only do I enjoy sports and other organizations that I am involved in but I am able to maintain excellent grades.
Being on the Honor Society has been a great privilege for me; I am able to act as a role model for others.
Volunteer and Service
I believe that serving others in the community has a huge impact not only on the lives of those who I am serving but also on my own as well. One way I have been fortunate enough to be able to help others in my community is by volunteering at Freedom Fellowship Church.
I volunteer on Wednesday evenings, by preparing meals, setting tables, and greeting people as they come in. Helping others in their time of need is a very humbling experience, it makes me realize how blessed I am. It has given me the opportunity to make a positive and meaningful impact on someone’s life.
I know serving the community will always be something I will strive to continue pursuing because people need support and it is what life is all about.
