Over many decades literature has been praised by many scholars especially who study English in the world. Therefore, in many instances, it is difficult for a scholar to spend an hour before reading any literature material. As a result, the field of literature dominated by many Playwright who are attracting many scholars to the field of literature. Some of the famous writers include Shakespeare who writes various books such as A Midsummer Night Dream among others. Apart from Shakespeare, we have Chinua Achebe from Nigeria who wrote Things Fall Apart among other books which are still famous even today in both Africa and the whole world at large. In this context, many new writers use the legends of writing as the role model and nowadays the field of literature is growing very fast. However, many writers have been facing challenges as a result of books in the industry of publishing books.
Therefore, this paper seeks to discuss the concept of freedom in Gombrowicz's Work. Gombrowicz is known as a polish playwright and a writer whose works includes in-depth analysis of psychology (Pratt, Daniel, 7). Furthermore, he is a writer who most readers from Western Europe did not hear of in the 20th century. Unfortunately, he did not understand English rather than the native Poland language. Therefore, many scholars had to translate his works into English so that other people from Europe may understand the contents of his work. However, it was difficult for many readers to understand the contents of his work since he used to write long and complicated sentences. In this context, English readers find the hard time to since it normal that English needs short sentences. However, his work is beloved in France since many competent translators make the readers aware of the contents and ideas of his writing (Byrcyn & Gąsienica, 101).

Furthermore, he spent many of the last days in France although his native land Poland remains a cultural legend for over thirty-five years. Unfortunately, communist Poland banned his books as a result of bisexual, leftist and anticlerical. Gombrowicz greatly overlooked in the current literature world. He wrote various publications such as Ferdydurke and Bakakay. For instance, in 2004, three of his major books were available in idiomatic English after translation from polish in his work he tends to focus on unusualness rather than his importance. Therefore, Gombrowicz is a writer who his work garnered much attention in the 20th centuries although but most people ignored him. In this context, his work was in polish whereby many people do not support it according to their culture. Witold Gombrowicz was a Polish writer who was in exile in the post-war period tries to come with the clear picture of the concept of freedom in his books (Bingham, Andrew, 2017).
For instance, in his first book Ferdydurke explains various themes including immaturity of youth which led to much criticism from readers. Many people especially in Western Europe they did not understand as a result of complex vocabularies and long sentences that were in his native language. However, apart from that first book he went further and wrote many other books that read in many universities in the world nowadays showing the freedom he had in expression. Subsequently, Gombrowicz in his works he fought against polish history and tradition endlessly; however, that was just the starting point (Grimstad, & Andreas, 625). Therefore, in his works, he explains how the person should live his own life without control of the other people who you’re living with. For instance, after the world, he went into exile for the rest of life, but he did not adopt the other people's culture; instead, he continued praising his roots. For instance, he used to write his books in his own native Poland language.
However, it did not bring much success at that period since many people find difficulties in understanding the language and they had to look for a translator. Gombrowicz fights the history of Poland endlessly although it dates back to many centuries; therefore, it is difficult for a person to influence such history. Further, his work is much rooted in a tradition that he strangled, but he managed to be universal at the same time. In the beginning, he studied law and philosophy and economics at the University of Warsaw and Paris. He published humorous stories that had low literature. Additionally, the collection of humorous stories were entirely not understood by contemporary critics. Further, in four years, he published the first novel entitled Ferdydurke. The first book dealt with themes that he explored in later writing.
Therefore, these themes include confines of society and culture specifically polish culture, the mask worn in front of others and problems of immaturity and youth. Gombrowicz lies in the categories of writers that do not surrender themselves, their originality and their imagination to anyone or for any price even if it is doctrines, societies or gods (Bingham& Andrew, 2018). Further, he was not willing to accept the marginalization of his homeland or willing to give to surrender his own culture. However, he cannot be judged after several decades of his death as he fought to introduce son land instead of the fatherland. Moreover, Gombrowicz works portray the concept of freedom in the way he goes to the Bingham, Andrew foreign country to look for the safe defense. In this context, he fled to Argentina during the freedom fight in his native country where he refused to fight and vowed not to return to his native country even after the end of the war. Therefore, his decision was justified since a person has a right of self-defense. Furthermore, in his works, there is freedom of speech and expression since Gombrowicz used to make his own decision without following anybody else (Kuharski & Allen, 61).
For instance, at the beginning when he wrote collect of humorous articles many people criticized him saying that his message was complicated and entirely not understood. As a result of freedom of speech, Gombrowicz did not listen to them and published the person novel Ferdedurke that he talked about various themes which made many people criticize him arguing that he was behaving like child. In this context, one of the issues that put him into the mockery of many people is problems of immaturity and youth. Therefore, this theme talked about how specific student mistreated by the professor Bingham, Andrew r at the age of thirty years after going back to school. Gombrowicz finds the native country Poland frustrating as a result of inferiority complex, where he decided to remind the world how the culture of his native country is excellent than that of the western states (Wojtas & Paweł, 51). Therefore, behaved in a manner that Poland is the center of civilization.
Furthermore, Gombrowicz’s attitude towards Polish culture was firm to the extent of comparing it to a person who doesn't believe in death. Moreover, he emphasized the freedom of religion in the sense that everybody should respect his culture. However, the concept of freedom can vary among different people. For instance, some people perceive freedom in negative form while others who conceive freedom in negative form. For example, real democracy gives you a chance to do things the way you want. However, when it comes to negative liberty, there is a limitation on what you are supposed to do. In Ferdydurke book, Gombrowicz's talked about freedom whereby a man who was thirty years old was enslaved by a learned professor who wanted to reduce the guy to childhood. The Ferdydurke book was published in 1937 Poland whereby made the author famous. However, this novel was banned officially in Poland for many decades. Nonetheless, the novel remains one of 20th-century work that is influential. Furthermore, the book became very difficult to translate from Polish to English since some of the words were very difficult, for instance, the word pupa was very complicated to translate in the English language since its meaning is immaturity and childhood (Bingham &Andrew, 2018). Further, some of the translators said the word means buttock; therefore many of those translated the book ignored the word.
For instance, in 2004, only three of his major books were available in idiomatic English after translation from polish. Furthermore, in works of Witold Gombrowicz’s conceive that there is lack of freedom since he used to praise the culture of his own native country while he was in the exile. In this context, he was in Argentina whereby the language is different from that Poland, and cultural values are different. However, Gombrowicz's affiliated to his native culture in such a way that nobody can convince him that there is any better culture than that of Poland. However, that freedom became curtailed since he was in a foreign country. Nonetheless, the issue of freedom in the works of Gombrowicz manifests by the thirty-year-old author by the name Kowalski who one morning wakes up and realizes that he is back in school. Thirty years old decided to write about immaturity and literally ought to return to immaturity time. Further, this guy spends most of the time with his classmates playing pranks, making fun of the body parts and also spends his time reprimanded by the professor, therefore, find himself embracing the Poland culture and free democratic Poland. Moreover, Kowalski embraces his newfound immaturity, and in this context, there is formlessness, realness, and freshness. Therefore, there freedom that was lacking among the mature because most of them did not accept him.
As a result, he vowed to find a new home with even immature people since they were free to take him. Additionally, Gombrowicz did not participate in the war in his own native country and instead he went into a foreign country to avoid the conflict (Pratt et al., 393). In this context, he went to live in Argentina where he was employed as a bank clerk. Furthermore, while he was in Argentina, he still followed Polish cultural life in a foreign country something uncommon among many foreigners. However, he distanced from being patriotic to his country since he flew the native country as a result of the war. Moreover, in the time of another fight for freedom, he decided to stay in a foreign country instead of submitting himself as a freedom fighter. Surprisingly, this guy lived his way of life, and he did not have any ideological affiliation hence becoming having a peaceful time to coop with any situation. Further, Gombrowicz shows freedom in his work mainly in Ferdydurke book when he argues that immaturity is not innate nor other people cannot impose it.
Therefore, there is relatively immaturity that culture inters any individual against doing certain things that occur, Bingham, Andrew Bingham, Andrew especially when it comes to issues of submerging and in this situation we cannot manage to hoist into its level. In this context, we to believe that we are the person who says but most of the time we find that we are fooling ourselves as a result that undermines the self-image and credibility of the own self. Additionally, Gombrowicz in his works demonstrated freedom by supervising his work Ferdydurke during translations to other languages such as German in 1960 and French in 1958. Further, he oversaw the translation of the book into English in 1961, whereby translated from French since the polish language was difficult to translate into English.
From the above discussion, it evident that in Gombrowicz works there are various elements of freedoms. For, instance, there is freedom of expressions, freedom, and right of self-defense, religious liberty among other liberties in his works. However, his job involves a lot of criticism from the readers from the various parts of Europe he managed to defend himself. For, instance Western Europe said that his language was difficult to understand. Furthermore, his work faces the challenge as his native country Poland banned some of his books from being read in the country. However, Gombrowicz has taken part in some of his failures; for instance, he used long and complicated sentences that are very difficult to understand in the English language. Nonetheless, he noted his mistakes and started making some of his words short so that many readers may realize. In another, context, he remained to be a writer of decision who did not follow any influence from the fans. For instance, many foreigners expected him to change his cultural way of life, but he fought anyone who was against the native culture and referred to it as the best.
