There is not much known about Euclid, the “Father of Geometry.'' We only know as much as he lived around 300 bc, and he taught in Alexandria, Egypt during the reign of Ptolemy I. Although the world still has his works and achievements throughout his books that still remain. He devised multiple theorems that laid the groundwork for geometry, subtlety linking his nickname “The Father Of Geometry” . He even developed a similar way of Geometry that we use today named Euclidean Geometry.

To start of some suspect Euclid wrote 13 books, but only five remain. The books that survived includes Euclid’s Elements, Data, Euclid’s Optics, Euclid’s Phenomena, and The contents of the fifth and sixth books of Euclid. Each book had their own topic such as the first book was used to prove elementary theorems about plane geometry. What’s astonishing is besides these works Euclid's “Elements” is still used to teach math in some schools. But these are the only books there are concrete evidence of his books, most were lost throughout time, although each book was a revelation in its own time. His books included his work and achievements such as editing and proving the work of mathematicians of his time including Pythagoras's theorum.

Euclid achieved things in his time people could only have dreamed of, such as identifying the first four perfect numbers “6, 28, 496, 8128”. And his theorem that identified that there were infinitely many prime numbers. His ideologies included the following, “Things which are equal to the same thing are equal to each other.” That simple quote is just one of the multiple and heaps of theorems he devised and edited so there would be a step in the right way for others to come. His books were such an influence on math that they were the second to be printed after the Bible by the earliest printing press in Venice Italy, 1482. His idea of geometry is still partially used today, Euclidean Geometry is as close to normal Geometry as you can get. Some suspect because of all his remarkable work he was actually nonexistent and he was a group of mathematicians but there is no concrete evidence to prove this theory.

The ideologies of a man who lived centuries ago is still used today, if he was able to do that I’d believe he had a remarkable life outside of math. His normal life may not have been so groundbreaking but his mind was millenium ahead. And that Truly is a title worth having.
