The question of global warming in the U.S.A. is at the heart of the debates. In fact, the United States has a number of populations very large and produces a lot of greenhouse gas emissions. We can observe many confrontations between scientific experts, the media but also politicians. This subject has an issue environmental, economic, and political. We can ask ourselves in what consists the debate about climate change in the USA. What is the past, the impact, and finally the future in the USA?

First of all, to understand the actual tension and situation in the USA, we have to go back to the historical outline and origins, because many measures have been taken even if it was not large-scale measures. All begin with the national environmental act (NEPA) of 1969. in time we had difficulty realizing the notion and the importance of global warming Comprehensive test ban treaty has been opened in September. Then on 11 December 1997, the United States signed the Kyoto Protocol in Japan with the aim of reducing greenhouse gas emissions during COP 3. This protocol was signed under Clinton’s presidential mandate. subsequently, there was The global warming petition project also known as Oregon’s Petition which has been created by Arthur B. Robinson to denounce global warming as a political concept, it aims to reject Kyoto’s protocol. In 2001 Greenhouse gas protocol has been installed. But with the arrival of Bush, the population of the USA perceived an attempt of change, in his mandate he tried to present his action plan on 14 February 2002 but in the end, he withdraws his ideas for fear of too negative impacts, he had not realized the magnitude. Then in 2005 was created the Asian-Pacific Partnership on clean development and Climate. The California Global Warming Solutions Act of September 2006. The last thing that have been done was on February 26, 2007, it followed that Arizona, California, New Mexico, Oregon, and Washington formed the Western Regional Climate Action Initiative and in April 2007 the greenhouse gas protocol was extended to 14 states.

But the historical outlines are not enough to understand why we arrive at this point, we must have an overview of what are the principal origins of this climate change because the USA has played a major part in its economy. Indeed, the expansion of the economy in the USA as well as the beginning of the import-export and industrialization has participated to the climatic changes. We can talk about a change that is anthropogenic so that is related to human activities. We will see in detail the wide range of human activities. Furthermore, the consequences could be irreversible and could affect almost all areas. To begin with there are consequences on the weather ( temperature and season, rainfall), on the parts of the frozen earth( glaciers, mountain glaciers, snow cover, sea ice, permafrost), on the ocean ( ocean’s level, ocean acidification, currents, sea heat waves), on natural hazards (heat waves, fires, cyclones), on the ozone layer ( greenhouse effect ), on the biodiversity: vegetation, so animals by the way; on the economy ( health system, lifestyle, agriculture, import, export); on the conflict because it affects the poorest people( less water, higher temperature); on population migration and finally health consequences (malnutrition, pollution, contaminated water, overloading of the care system more deaths).

Finally, the perspectives for the future are again fuzzy and uncertain, because there are more and more consequences and more and more disagreement. In fact, if the government does nothing, temperatures will rise by 1.5°C (2.7°F). During the mandate of Obama, he contributed to put The Clean Power plan with the aim of reducing 32 % which seems low but is less of a weight in the climate balance. Unfortunately, Since the arrival of Mister Donald Trump, issues to limit global warming have been reduced because he has put a barrier and there is a dramatic increase in what is called «climate skepticism», moreover he has done release the COP in 2017. Nevertheless, Climate action in the United States continues through regional state and local efforts but also with the struggle of certain movements and activists. There are also advances in science with the searchers. The perspectives are really worrying for the future of the population How could they live if the air become unbreathable, how they will drink if the water will be more and more polluted? Other forms of the disease will appear. New generations are becoming more and more aware of past actions and are dedicated to saving their planet, a cleaner planet, they are more open-minded and informed about the subject. It is also necessary that people need to be educated to take care of the environment to improve the climate because everything depends on prevention.

To conclude, we can see that the USA has taken some steps to try to solve the problem but in the face of much skepticism on the part of the population and on the part of the political world, it becomes difficult to introduce new regulations because it is also necessary at the same time to convince the population that this could be beneficial to them. This radical change could have a financial impact on families, businesses, and farmers for results they will only see later. So, we talk about profitability. We can end on the point that the debate in the USA is the terrain of conflict.

To my mind, I think that global warming is really worrying and people didn’t realize how much the climate has changed and the real impact on it, for the instant we didn’t feel the consequences and some people don’t care because they think that it is not their problem but it is the problem of everyone and mostly for the next generation.

Nowadays technology is more and more useful, and specific, could technology save our planet from inevitable global warming?
