When people talk about their life, what do you think about? Do you ever think about how fortunate you are? Why do your parents teach you certain life lessons? Well, every family teaches their children different lessons, and it is called the laws of life. It’s the way someone chooses to live their life. They have values that they use to set some goals to accomplish throughout their lifetime. The most important values in my life are education, confidence, and balancing myself.
I value education because some people around the world aren’t as fortunate as I am to get an education. Most girls around the world don’t go to school instead they do housework. They want to learn, but they don’t have the opportunities to. My parents were born in China and went to school there. They both decided to move to America and had to learn English by themselves. They opened up a restaurant and they always told my brother and me to study hard in school. They hope that we don’t have to work at a restaurant because it’s hard. They want us to work for large companies and have a happy life. My parents got a tutor for my brother and me, so we can do better in school. My parents just hope we do well in school, but it’s up to us to decide how hard we’ll try in school. I try my hardest in school and I’m persistent. Since this is high school, I have to study harder and get more involved in school. I really want to go to a good college and that takes also hard work.

The second value is confidence because it can get you a long way in life. I lack confidence in myself, but I’m working on that. When we take tests in school, I second-guess myself a lot. That causes me to change all my answers and then it causes me to the problems wrong. Many people have told me that I really need confidence and to trust myself more. Confidence can take someone a long way. I’m very hardworking and devoted to what I’m doing. I don’t give up easily, so I’m trying to make my confidence get a little higher. I’m also a timid person, so confidence doesn’t come easily to me. I’m confident in other things though. When I dance, I don’t think about anything and it helps me build self-confidence. My family is always coming to watch me dance and they support me in whatever I do. I have done auditions before and I get nervous, but at the end of the day, things work out. I made it to the dance competition team, into the Annie Junior play, cheer team, etc. I know in the end things will work out and that I tried my best. I love doing things that are out of my comfort zone because it helps me throughout my life.
Balance is another law of life I value. Balance is hard and you have to learn how to manage everything you do in life. I learn to balance friends, family, and my school life. Time management is very important in life as well. I have to decide when it’s appropriate to hang out with friends or family and when to do homework. Also, I have to learn to balance my life after school. I always want to do so many things in my life. I want to dance, sing, cheer, act, play piano, etc. My parents let me do whatever I want, but they want me to manage my time wisely for everything. I love being busy, but my parents said I shouldn’t be too busy in life.
These are the laws of life that I value. Education, Confidence, and Balance have gotten me through all the tough times in life. I have gotten to where I am today by these values. My family has always taught me to try and be the best version of myself every day. There’s always a chance for me to change and that’s tomorrow.
