One of Luther's many strengths was to not let anything, or anyone stand in his way once he is committed to his goal. An example of when he demonstrated this was when he found out about the Catholic Churches indulgences. Once he found out about this his goal was to save the people that were believers of the church. Although along the way Luther came across some troubles and issues, he always found a way around it. An example of this was when he was excommunicated from the church, although the church authorities weren’t happy with his actions, he didn’t stop fighting for what was right. This quality showed how committed he was to make things right with the churches and that he was determined. Luther was determined and extremely driven with everything he did. In the film he demonstrates this when he was determined to help Hanna and Grete, throughout the film he constantly showed how determined he was to look after them and lead them on the right path of faith. When Luther saw Hanna buying an indulgence he confronted her and told her that an indulgence won’t help her and that she needs to have faith in God, because of these qualities He is one of the most influential figures in the history of Christianity.

A time where Luther required support from another person in his life was during the first few years of becoming a monk was extremely difficult for Luther, this was because he did not find the religious enlightenment he was seeking. Johann Von Staupitz told him to focus his life exclusively on Jesus Christ and this would later provide him with the guidance he required. Johann Von Staupitz was seen as Luther's mentor and was there for Luther when he needed it.

Martin Luther decided to join the monastery because he was stuck in a very dangerous thunderstorm. Martin Luther was a law student when he got stuck outside in a thunderstorm, afraid of what may happen to him during this thunderstorm he prayed and promised that if his life were to be saved he would join a religious order. From then on he believed that Christans are saved through faith not through their own efforts.

Another situation where Luther’s faith in God was evident in his life was when Luther was continuously helping people. Luther's faith in God was evident as he knew that no matter how people took his helping hand God would love him and believed in him. This meant that Luther was not afraid to stand up for things that he strongly believed in.

According to Crosswalk, 2020 salvation is “to be loved by God from the consequences of our sin.” Whereas grace is the unconditional love from God to a person who doesn't always deserve it. According to Christianity.com,2020 “Grace is the opposite to karma, which is all about getting what you deserve. Grace is getting what you don’t deserve.” These words are important to Luther and his understanding of how the church should be as he believes that people should be loved no matter what the circumstances are and that although someone may have done something which is seen as a sin God and everyone should love and accept them. An example of when Luther showed salvation and grace was when a boy committed suicide, many people in the town believed that he had sinned and shouldn’t be buried in a graveyard but Luther stood up for the boy and his family so he took it upon himself to dig a grave for him.

In the catholic church indulgences were a way to reduce the consequence one would receive from a sin. In order to receive an indulgence you would have to pay an amount of money which promises that God would forgive you for your sin. Luther believed that this practise was wrong because it drew the believers away from the one true source of salvation. Luther believed that people should not be relying on paying to be forgiven and that they should have faith that God would save them, by the believers doing this they would be able to have salvation.

Martin Luther was so determined to translate the bible into German so that all Germans could read the bible, not just the educated. This was important to Luther so that common people could understand God’s word. According to Quora,2020 “ From that Christians would become more knowledgeable and be able to better live for God because they could now read the bible in their own language.”

When Luther first started to question some of the Catholic Church's teachings the church authorities became very angry and excommunicated Luther for criticizing the Catholic Church. During this time Luther was also declared heretic and outlaw, this was because he was called to defend his beliefs before the Holy Roman Emperor Charles V and because he refused to recant his writings the emperor declared him an outlaw and heretic.

The world needs many more people like Luther because unlike many leaders today he strived for a positive outcome. If more people were similar to Luther there would be many people standing up for what they believe in and what is right. In the film Martin Luther always stood up for what was right and what he believed to be right, if people were to be like this the world would be less negative and more positive.

Luther’s reforms have had a lasting impact on the way society views religion, according to CNN,2020 this is because “Luther and his followers were not trying to reshape the world they were trying to save it.” The reforms allow people to follow a religion that they truly believe in as they may be Christian but they may be a different branch of Christianity to another. Luther's reforms were put in place to ‘improve’ the Catholic Church Luther did this as he believed that many things the Catholic Church was teaching were not correct. An example of this was when people were paying for indulgences, Luther didn’t agree with this so he told the people that this wasn't the right way to do things. This has changed the way society views religion as people are much more accepting of the different religions than they were many years ago.
