My chosen topic written in first person perspective, is a creative piece in the form of a speech about gender inequalities in Australia. In this speech, I am a young Lady who is Australia’s sex discrimination commissioner and has been in over 1500 interviews. I have interviewed more than 2000 females whilst traveling to every state and country over the past two years to learn how Australia is progressing in gender inequality, and to also discuss what these inequalities have led to.
The purpose of my piece is to educate and inform Australians that the community and place we live in, and the way we act towards the opposite gender have a big influence on our behavior. Warning them about the consequences of sex discrimination and the hidden world of domestic violence against females that the media is refusing to acknowledge. This provokes fear and disbelief at the results people have to endure because of the lack of attention the media gives to those experiencing discrimination.

My proposed audience is everyone living in Australia as my topic mentions current situations and problems that need to be heard and solved immediately. This speech is especially addressed to people who think men are superior to women and have the upper hand in everything, including work wages, job applications, voicing out opinions, and much more.
In this piece, I have included languages of different types such as formal and informative writing so that I can engage and get the audience’s attention, also making sure to include lots of facts to raise awareness of the problematic situation. I will do this by using my past experiences and different case studies/ stories as proof and evidence for my arguments.
I have also used a few persuasive languages as it adds an effective approach when viewing my points and arguments. Some of these are ‘repetition’ in order to show that this problem of sex discrimination is occurring on a daily basis whether it is witnessed by people or not. I have used ‘dialogues’ of people that I have interviewed, so it can provide an important view to others about the difficulties faced by people, especially females. By including types of ‘appeals’ such as emotional appeals, I am having a greater emotional impact on my audience. This will make them take a stand against sex discrimination and voice out opinions which many have refused to do.
This topic has allowed me to have an insight and overview of different ways people are being discriminated against, whether these people are healthy or have a disability, whether they are young or elderly, or whether they are female or male.
