Animal rights… Before we dive into what animal rights really mean, I would like to define some certain terms and animal rights itself. What is an animal? A living organism that feeds on organic matter, typically having specialized sense organs and nervous system and able to respond rapidly to stimuli, animals need food and water to live. What does it mean to have a right? Rights are legal, social, or ethical principles of freedom or entitlement; that is, rights are the fundamental normative rules about what is allowed of people or owed to people according to some legal system, social convention, or ethical theory.

I am sure ideas about what animal right is are beginning to flow, well Animal rights is the philosophy according to which some, or all, animals are entitled to the possession of their own existence and that their most basic interests such as the need to avoid suffering should be afforded the same consideration as similar interests of human beings. We can also say, the right of animals to be free from exploitation, domination and abuse by humans.

Animal rights mean that animals deserve certain kinds of consideration, consideration of what is in their best interests, regardless of whether they are ‘cute’, useful to humans, or an endangered species and regardless of whether any human cares about them at all. The reason that people have rights is to prevent unjust suffering. Similarly, the reason that animal rights activists want animals to have rights is to prevent them from suffering unjustly.

Basic examples of animal rights include banning animal experiments, banning the breeding and killing of animals for food, clothing, or medicine, banning the use of animals for hard labor, banning selective breeding for any reason other than the benefit of the animal, banning hunting, banning zoos, or using animals in entertainment.

Some also classify the rights to liberties, such as freedom from hunger and thirst, free access to fresh water and diet to maintain health and vigor, freedom from discomfort, freedom from pain, injury or disease, freedom to express normal behavior, freedom from fear and disaster.

Some of the issues that affect animals include climate change, suburban sprawl means lost habitat (overpopulation is one of the many), harmful fishing practices, invasive species, industrial farming, feral cats and dogs, depredation, euthanasia of domestic animals, destruction and movement of service animals, animal experiments and the use of animal products in the fashion industry.

It is estimated that each year 77 billion land animals are slaughtered for food. More than 200 million animals are killed for food around the world every day just on land. Including wild-caught and farmed fishes, we get a total closer to 3 billion animals killed daily. That comes out to 72 billion land animals and over 1.2 trillion aquatic animals killed for food around the world every year.

More than 50 million animals are violently killed for use in fashion every year. Billions of animals provide source material for fashion, including leather, silk and fur. Industry practices can also adversely affect biodiversity, leading to a loss of animal habitats and species. Many are commonly used today like wool, leather and silk. Others are chiefly luxury materials, such as cashmere or fur.

The article ‘Why Is It Necessary to Say NO to Animal Skin’ by Fibre2Fashion states that compassion is fashion! More than forty million animals are killed each year for fur and ski, this system reasons acute struggling and ache to the animals at the same time as trimming their fur or taking their pores and skin which results in their death.

Animals raised at the fur farms spend their complete existence imprisoned in grimy and painful cages. Minks, foxes, raccoons, coyotes, bobcats, lynxes, opossums, nutria, beavers, muskrats, and otters are the generally raised animals for fur. The animals right here are killed with inside the maximum ugly methods like poisoning, gas, suffocating, or giving electric powered shock.

China looks after extra than 12 of the fur utilized in America. For this, hundreds of thousands of puppies and cats are crushed to death, hanged or maybe skinned alive in greed for his or her fur. The bad animals trapped regularly go through painfully for lengthy hours because of blood loss, fright, thirst, cold, and assaults from different animals a few times, the leg bone of the animal is reduced while stuck with inside the robust metal jaw traps. Conifer traps are used to squeeze the neck of animals with colossal strain or water-set traps that make the animals' warfare for existence over nine mins earlier than drowning.

In Canada, they perform authorities accepted seal killing. Thousands of infant harp seals are shot or overwhelmed with heavy metallic rods and killed brutally. These animals witness unspeakable horrors like overcrowding, castration, tail cutting, dehorning with none painkillers with inside the slaughterhouses. Sometimes they're skinned, the neck is slammed or mutilated, even if conscious.

Leather may be received from cow, goat, sheep, pig or even the endangered species aren't spared like alligator, ostrich, kangaroo, etc. Lambs are compelled upon a dreadful procedure called ‘mule sing’. The large part of pores and skin and flesh are reduced from the lower back of the animal and that too with none sedatives.

Male lambs are castrated as young as 2 weeks vintage with the aid of using reducing their testicles or with the rubber ring. The use of rubber ring is one of the maximum hurting methods of castration. Due to loss of meals and right shelter, loads of lambs die each 12 months.

Speaking approximately the worldwide legal guidelines, a few are a good deal effective than the U.S. statutes. Today, many nations have strictly prohibited fur farms. UK, Austria and Croatia have banned fur farms, in which as New Zealand, Sweden and Switzerland have stringent policies. In the Netherlands, fox and chinchilla farming is illegal. Over 60 international locations have forbidden precise styles of trap. However, China has nearly no legal guidelines to guard animals.

Looking at the history, we're conscious that animals are sought for their fur and pores and skin. Surprisingly, even the knowledgeable humans aren't privy to the horrors animals undergo for his or her pores and skin in this planet.

I fully agree with the author of the article from Fibre2Fashion that it is time to realize that every pair of leather shoes in your closet is encouraging the abomination behind the use of animals in the fashion industry. Always remember fashion should be delightful and not deadly, certainly not at the cost of speechless creatures. More efforts need to be kept in making it know that. When so many beautiful and wise choices are available, it is irrelevant to use fur. One must shun all commodities made from animal skin. We all know it's impossible for any market to flourish with the consumers, it is important to educate the consumers. Even at this minute hundreds of helpless animals are wailing in pain all over the world, with their tears shed in the form of blood for our luxuries.

The author of the article from Fibre2Fashion took a moral position, while presenting accurate and reasonable facts. It's not arguable that what is been done to these poor animals all in the name of fashion is fair or justified.

Peter Albert David Singer AC is a well-known Australian moral philosopher, currently the Ira W. Decamp Professor of Bioethics at Princeton University. He specializes in applied ethics and approaches ethical issues from a secular, utilitarian perspective. He is known in particular for his book ‘Animal Liberation’ (1975), in which he argues in favor of veganism. Obviously, Peter Singer is never in support of animals in the fashion industry, given that he has fought for animals liberation and rights a lot. Singer's theory of animal liberation requires that we reject species ism, which would, for example, prevent the use of animals in experiments in those situations in which we would not use humans who had the same interests at stake.

Yet animals' rights are violated when they are used in research because they are not given a choice. Animals are subjected to tests that are often painful or cause permanent damage or death, and they are never given the option of not participating in the experiment. The extreme position is that animals can be treated in any way that humans want to treat them. The less extreme position is that animals can be treated in any way that is not morally bad for human beings and can be treated with rights. For example, some people believe that it is wrong to be cruel to animals because it is wrong to be cruel to anyone.

Some few things we can do to reduce or stop human cruelty to animals can be by becoming a responsible pet owner: be an example of kindness to other pets, intervene if you witness animal cruelty, abuse or neglect, report animal cruelty, abuse or neglect, teach your children or younger ones to have respect for animals, demand stricter laws for the protection of animals, shelter an animal in need, consider that neglect of animals can be closely linked to domestic violence, educate people around you about the issue, offer help to people who are overwhelmed with their animals.

Current research provides compelling evidence that at least some animals likely feel a full range of emotions, including fear, joy, happiness, shame, embarrassment, resentment, jealousy, rage, anger, love, so be kind to animals they feel what we humans also feel.

Animals should be treated kindly and good, enough research has shown, animals have feelings and feel especially pain, so there shouldn't be an issue on not making a living creature as ourselves feel less pain because of our greed for only our specie. Animal rights is a real thing, and we should all help in bringing justice to animals around the world.
