Tress Macneille is one of the influential voice actors of the cartoon community (besides Rob Paulsen) who voiced nine hundred seventy-six characters of the cartoon characters from the 1970s until the present and still counting, The characteristics of each character that she voiced is the different features of spoken language and although the characters were all voiced by the same person, there are differences about the usage of feature of spoken language that each of the characters uses. The researcher conducted the research because of the researcher’s special interest of the subject and the researcher needs to help other people understand the different spoken language features that each of the character uses. In the research, the researcher will analyze the unique features of spoken language of three characters which are Dot Warner from Animaniacs, Gadget Hackwrench from Chip 'n Dale's Rescue Rangers, and Deputy Mayor Calico “Callie” Briggs from SWAT Kats: The Radical Squadrons.

Firstly, we will start with Dot Warner, a character from Animaniacs which Miss Macneille voiced during 1993 until 1998. Animaniacs is a kid show aimed at children in which the character Dot Warner is the youngest of the three Warner Brothers (and Sister). When she felt disgusted, she usually says the word ‘disgusting’ (dɪsˈgʌstɪŋ) but the first letter of ‘I’ is lengthened so it became ‘diiiisgusting’ (diisˈgʌstɪŋ). This phrase became a signature phrase that she used when she felt disgusted in the show. An example of this is found within the first episode in which she imagined a date with a doctor and feeling disgusted, she said the word ‘diiiisgusting’. In conclusion, we can conclude that the character Dot Warner used a lengthened vowel in her signature phrase ‘diiisgusting’ when she felt disgusted.

For the second one, we will analyze Gadget Hackwrench, a female mouse character from Chip 'n Dale's Rescue Rangers, a children show that aired on the Disney Channel which aired from 1988 until 1990. Gadget Hackwrench is the Rescue Ranger’s pilot, mechanic, and inventor and she is responsible for the Ranger’s gadgets and vehicles. Whenever she got surprised by something, she always said the word ‘Golly’ (gɑli). This word has become a signature phrase for Gadget Hackwrench to say on the show. For example, in fifth episode of the second season titled “Rescue Rangers to the Rescue: Part 5”, when the Rescue Rangers were chasing a train and Monterey Jack told her to use the brake, she said ‘Golly! No one said anything about stopping.’ Therefore, we now know that the character of Gadget Hackwrench applied an informal word, in this case, the word ‘Golly’.

And, finally, for the third and final one, we will end it with the character Deputy Mayor Calico “Callie” Briggs, a female feline from SWAT Kats: The Radical Squadrons, a more serious children show which aired on Turner Broadcasting System or commonly abbreviated as TBS from 1993 until 1995, when the show was cancelled for being “too violent.” In the show, Callie Briggs is the deputy mayor who is more in charge of managing problem in Megakat City rather than the mayor himself. In the show, sometimes she uses swear words and slangs. An example of this is shown in the fifth episode of the second season titled “The Metallikats”, when the mayor is captured by two robots and when Callie arrived to see him, she said ‘Leave him alone, you metal morons! He didn’t turn down your parole, I did!’ Another example in the same episode happens afterwards, when the villains knew who actually imprisoned them, Callie said ‘That’s right, sister! And I’d do it again in a heartbeat! You don’t scare me, you brass bimbo! ’ To summarize it, Callie Briggs uses swear words and slangs such as ‘morons’, ‘sister’, and ‘bimbo’.
