Currently, I'm a Health Science student at Grant County High School taking Principles of Health Science, Medical Terminology, and Emergency Procedures for college credit. I am interested in becoming a senior intern at St. Elizabeth for everything the internship entails. I believe I would be a good fit for this internship opportunity because I have a strong desire for learning about health careers, a strong work ethic, and I enjoy helping and caring for others.
For the last 2 weeks, my Principles of Health Science class has also been learning about many different healthcare careers, the education levels needed to pursue those careers, and the careers' salaries. I've learned the most about therapeutic services, which are mainly focused on changing the health status of a patient over time. Some of my interests would include working in the Emergency Services department. For my career, I would like to become a paramedic (EMT-P) or possibly go into a nursing career (ER) which would be amazing. I also learned many different skills like taking pulse, bleeding control, and applying splints. Another interest would be to job shadow while interning, it sounds very engaging. Asking them any questions or learning about the job and the duties that come with it. All of the different program categories like Office/Administrative - which my class has just learned about Target Health/ Wellness - or Engineering/Facilities will definitely be eye-opening. I enjoy learning experiences. Some of my qualities include being persistent, dependable, and responsible while still friendly, determined, and confident.

My work ethic could be described as upstanding. I usually arrive to classes early to take out any notes or homework we had done the other day so then I'll be ready to work when class starts. I am organized with everything and having a routine helps so that I know how much time it takes to do a certain task. For example, the first 30 minutes of class are usually devoted to going over the homework and notes. Then the rest of class is more notes, studying, or tests. By doing so, I can increase my productivity and get more work done. I work really well in teams, helping others when I'm done with my part and then sharing all the information together. My work is high-quality in that I use diagrams, highlighters, and different colored pens, getting rid of anything that is not neat, many resources, etc. I'm willing to give anything a try.
Helping people is one of the reasons why I wanted to join the healthcare team. I care for people greatly. My church (UMC) has this annual mission trip to Ida Spence. We did the Last Saturday Meal involving the group bagging meals for many families and we prayed with them. It was a very life-changing experience bringing me to want to help more people. Even at school, I have a really great bond with everyone, and knowing when they are hurt or just need someone to talk to is always the first thing on my mind. Helping people is why I want to become a paramedic. They arrive first and assess what needs to be done and will rush the patient to the hospital if needed. They have to be prepared for anything to happen. Also, an ER nurse will ultimately care for any patients, no matter what condition they are in when brought to the hospital by the paramedics.
I am really interested in your internship. I am very passionate about what I do, and I believe in making a positive difference in the patient experience.
