Abortion has been a controversial and enormous social problem, that affects women all around the world. This is a woman's choice and is a part of a woman's human rights. I think that it is a woman's body, and a woman's choice, therefore she should be able to decide on whether or not she gets an abortion. This is why abortion should be legal, and be available for all women. Legalizing abortion would help the health of women mentally and physically. Not only this but is not in the best interest of the child, children sit in orphanages without being adopted.
There are about 400,000 kids in the U.S. foster care system, and 100,000 are waiting to be adopted, and 30,000 kids end up becoming too old, and becoming adults without being adopted, and have no families (Showhope.org 2014). Imagine growing up thinking you are unwanted, and no family wants to adopt you. Kids go through so much emotional stress and depression from this, this can cause the kids to have bad futures and no support systems.

A story about a man named Peter who grew up in an orphanage shows how horrible the system is and all the struggles he had to deal with. They go on to explain all the things that they did to them, and how they were poorly treated. Peter goes on to say that the children in the house were not treated as individuals, they had ringworm on their heads. Along with this Peter said he was bullied a lot and was not allowed to talk with any of his siblings. He was never adopted, and when he turned 18 he was kicked out so they could make room for more kids (Rebekah Lemke, 2017). He had depression, and had a rough time during his life and had to transition to being an adult, and had no support system from a family, or the orphanage.
Orphanage housing is very bad at times. The orphanages are crowded, there is bullying, and that is not even the worst of it. This is why in most cases abortion can be better than giving a child up for adoption. People who are pro-life should not be saying that instead of getting an abortion that they should give it up for adoption, this is not what is always the best choice. The kids end up having a harder life in a lot of cases and then the mother still has to go through having the child they know they will not want or keep, and not knowing where the child is going to end up. This is why it should always be the mother's choice on what she wants to do and not be pressured.
Pressuring a woman to give a child up for adoption can cause stress on the woman. It is a woman's body, and it should be their choice on what they do. In certain circumstances, a woman can not afford to even have the baby and keep herself healthy. They need to have vitamins, and doctor appointments just to have the kid that they are going to give up for adoption.
If a woman feels that she should have an abortion nobody has the right to take that away from her. From prior evidence, it shows that children who are put into orphanages end up going through emotional stress, and it can cause a lot more heartbreak than needed. This shows that it can cause more emotional stress on the woman and the child. A study showed that women who were not allowed abortions have lower self-esteem, anxiety, and less satisfaction with life (Alexandra Sifferlin, 2016).
The legalization of abortion lets women get their abortion on time, and not having to wait too long. Letting women get it on time also makes the chances of having complications much less(Kim Painter, 2012). Women sometimes need to have abortions to be able to live, pregnancy is not a risk-free life event. Conditions that make the woman have to have an abortion are severe infections, severe cases of preeclampsia, and heart failure (Kim Painter, 2012). This proves that in some cases that women need to have an abortion. If the woman is having life-threatening issues, then they may need to have an abortion, the woman's life will always come first. Saying that women should never be allowed to have abortions does not take into account the health issues of the woman, some women can’t carry a baby and can be very life-threatening. This is why abortions should be allowed, especially because some women need them. This is not just wanting in some cases, it is also a need.
The next reason why abortion should be legal is that without it teen pregnancies will go up. Teenagers already have to deal with so much in there day to day life. Have to go to school every day, do hours of homework and studying every night, go to practice and games for sports, keep up with other extracurricular activities, and even more. All these are just a few things teenagers have to do daily, think about adding on having to be pregnant, and making sure that the baby stays healthy, and that you stay healthy all while dealing with school, and worrying if they will be kicked out because their family does not accept it or not. If people think that a teenager is mature enough to have a baby and to give it up for adoption then they should also be mature enough to have an abortion.
Around 350,000 teenagers in the united states under 18 years old have become pregnant every year, 82% of these pregnancies are unintended. 55 percent of these girls have babies, 14 percent have miscarriages, and 31 percent have abortions. (ACLU, 2018). The main reasons why some of the girls who went through with the pregnancies are that their parents did not allow them to go through with the procedure, or they were simply not able to get it. Along with this, you have to wonder if these miscarriages were possible done on purpose to where the girl did it herself because she did not want to go through with it.
Brett Kavanaugh has become a part of the Supreme Court now. Many people are getting mad at this and getting very worried that things are going to change a lot. A democrat says “He was nominated for the purpose of taking away a woman’s constitutionally protected right to make her own health care decisions. Make no mistake this is about punishing women.” (Manuela Tobias, 2018). Many people think that Brett is going to take away a woman's right to abortion, and women's rights in general. Along with this many women are afraid that he is going to also overturn Roe vs. Wade and this is something a lot of women don't want to have happened because it would mean they would not have access to abortions. Doing so would put a lot of women's lives and mental health at risk. If they take this away women are going to try and get abortions, even if it means that it is unsafe and illegal. Women will risk their lives to be able to get them and not to mention if they are not allowed to have an abortion this will affect them a lot mentally.
If the country were to outlaw abortion there is a big chance that more children would be having children. Kids who accidentally get pregnant should not be punished for the rest of their lives for a moment of carelessness. They would most likely have to drop out of high school to take care of the child, won't get a college degree, and will end up having a job that cannot support the child and herself, or will not have a job at all. Also if younger girls were to get pregnant their bodies are usually not ready at all to carry children and it can cause a lot of complications if they carry the child (Manuela Tobias, 2018). If a girl or woman is forced to carry an unwanted child there is no saying what they will do. They can either get an illegal abortion or harm themselves to try to end the pregnancy.
These reasons are why abortion should always be a woman’s choice and nobody else's. No woman should be pressured to do anything they don't want to do, this stuff should always be their choice and nobody else's. If this choice gets taken away many women are going to get hurt, or even worse killed. Just because it’s illegal does not stop women from getting something they feel they need. This is not just a want, this is a necessity to a lot of people, and it is not something that should be taken away ever (Manuela Tobias, 2018).
Abortion is a part of women's rights, this is something that should not be taken as a joke. Not letting a woman get one can cause way more issues than the abortion itself, it can cause depression, and many more mental illnesses. This can lead to the woman hurting herself so she does not have to carry the unwanted child, and therefore hurt her, or even cause death. People who do not like abortions do not think about what could happen if they do now allow it, and that if they are not getting the abortion they should not be able to have a say in what the woman wants to do. If it’s your body it is your choice and nobody else's. This is why abortion should be legal and have easy access so there are no complications.
