Introduction

Upon watching these week's videos and reading the weeks course line, I find that the most useful method in my learning about the relationship of the brain and the behavior of people is the DNA extraction method. According to (Yoshikawa, Dogruman-AI, Balaban, & Sultan, 2017), in the recent years, Microbiology labs have been given access to facilities that can perform molecular diagnostics. Before the first publication on amplification of DNA by PCR using the in vitro method, particular DNA probes had been used in basic researches and diagnostic applications. This was despite being hampered by the limited sensitivities of direct hybridization assays with no preceding steps in amplification. Technical advances have however being experienced whereby the drawbacks of the initially existing PCR have been replaced by real-time PCR. Early years PCR had high contamination risks that resulted from amplified products. It has also made it simply possible for combination of at least one target in multiplex assay. This discussion shows the role of DNA extraction in biology and behavior.

With the introduction of automation methods in DNA isolation, use of techniques in nucleic acid-based detection has become very much possible in high throughput formats. DNA is found in the chromosomes, and it helps in determining various characteristics of human beings such as our preference for certain types of behavior, how tall we shall be or even the colour of our eyes. The gene sequences in the chromosomes assists scientists in determining the genetic basis for many diseases. For instance, DNA extracted from the white cells of the blood can be used to perform genetic testing as outlined in (Rockville, 2019). It helps diagnose diseases such as Huntington and congenital disease. The fluid that surrounds the brain can also be analyzed to help detect chronic inflammation, meningitis, cases of multiple sclerosis and other rare infections. Protein disorders, diabetes and other forms of muscular dystrophy are indicated by metabolic and chemical testing of blood. DNA therefore affects our behaviors and biological changes.

DNA extraction provides various benefits. First, surgeries and deaths are not needed to record the brain. It's very much beneficial to study or see how the brain works with the patient still breathing. Secondly, scientists are also realizing the ability to manipulate chromosomes, for instance in cloning. A person in career that makes use of degree in psychology would be of so much benefit in the case he or she has knowledge in neuroscience investigational methods as written by (Gazzaniga, 2016). It would give him a wide range of career choices for specializations. He/she can work in researches that involve the brain and how it affects human behavior it its psychological state.

Conclusion

In conclusion, there are lots of advances in DNA extraction. This has made this laboratory science technique very effective in recent years. Specialist in neuroscience methods can participate in educating parents on the behaviors of their children and their development in functions, as well as help them understand neurological disorders that they may be going through.
