College is something every high school student looks forward to. College away from home takes everything to another level. It is said that 17-22 is the age when a person grows physically, mentally and spiritually. So your actions and the decisions you make are going to matter for real. It is the best time to discover yourself and Dorm life helps you do that in the best way possible.in simple words is home away from home, Moving out of your parents house is not something easy to do but it is every is every girl’s dream with strict parents, every night is a pyjama party you’ve begged your parents for before. Dorm life is freedom at its finest but with freedom comes responsibility.
Back home, everything you wanted was already available. You didn’t have to work for it. Your parents did everything for you but once you your dorm life starts, you are going to live with someone who’s not your family. You can’t live your life the way you used to because it might be disturbing for the other person.
One similarity dorm life and home life share is responsibilities. Even when living with parents there are many chores your parents entrust you with, like cleaning your room, organising your room, helping your parents with their chores, etc. similarly when you live away from your home you have to do lots more than what you used to. Your parents are trusting you with yourself. In addition, education is one thing which will follow you through this journey, just like how it did previously. So keeping your grades up has always been your responsibility, and will be until college ends.
However, dorm life is very different from home life. One major difference being you having to live away from your family. You won’t have your family support as strong as it would be if you are at your home but on the other hand, you get your privacy In dorms as you are going to have a lot of alone time which helps you spend time with yourself and discover more about yourself.
Unlike home, dorm life is expensive. There’s going to be a lot of money spent on the accommodation, utilities etc. on the otter hand, home life is very comfortable when it comes to expenses. You won’t have to run to the grocery store or the nearest hawker centre just to fill your stomach. There’s always food at home, no matter what.
One of the best aspect of living in a dorm is the freedom you get. No curfew, no parents, only fun but where there’s lot of fun, there’s suffering too. You spend too much time enjoying the freedom never like before and lose track of what your priorities should be.
