While it is true that many countries do not spend enough money on girls’ education, girls have the right to an education, according to the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women, because education is a basic human right and all women should have equal opportunities to be educated.

Globalcitizens.org claims that if recent trends in Sub-Saharan Africa continue, the richest boys will complete primary school by 2021, while the poorest girls won't catch up until 2086. This is a major problem because these girls are not getting a proper education simply because they are in the lower class. Sub-Saharan Africans are not the only ones experiencing this problem. Many other third world countries such as India, Pakistan, and Afghanistan don't allow girls to achieve their full academic potential. As a consequence, of most of these girls’ families being in the lower class, they are forced to go into poverty and get an arranged, abusive, or child marriage for money. Around twenty years ago a group called the Taliban threatened all girls in Afghanistan and parts of Pakistan to not attend school for these reasons; they physically and mentally abused many girls and their families just for wanting an education and to break the gender stereotypes. On the contrary, all girls deserve an education. Our world could be a much better place if all girls were treated equally and everyone got the same opportunities. “Girls’ education strengthens the economy and reduces inequality. This conveys that these people are hurting our economy and stopping our world from growing just so they can feel superior to women. No matter what these people say, everyone deserves an education.

Women have been put down for centuries for trying to educate themselves and by trying to receive the same rights as men, and it is time to press the brakes and give women the education they need and deserve. Clearly, girls need to be educated because it is their human right and they deserve an equal opportunity to learn because women are just as worthy of an education as men are. By not educating women, millions of innocent children have died due to their living circumstances with their moms in poor, low-resource areas. Education empowers women because even with just one additional year of schooling, a woman's earnings can increase by 10 to 20 percent.
