Tourism has become one of the world’s leading economic activity. One can ask themselves, “Why would a person be interested in visiting foreign places?” Nowadays, people travel for different reasons namely; pleasure, business, education, and health care among others. There are different places one can travel according to what they wish to see. However, if one wishes to visit Rwanda, one should visit the remarkable mountain gorillas. As stated by Volcanoes National Park (2019), the world’s gorilla population has been decreasing over the years, only 900 gorillas are left in the world, of which 225 are located in Rwanda, these said gorillas are also known as the world’s largest primates and the most intelligent of the primate’s family.
Firstly, people ought to come to Rwanda to visit her mountain gorillas. It is believed that gorillas are becoming extinct as days go by. According to the Arcus Foundation (2014), “gorillas have declined across their range since the 1990s between 77 and 93 percent depending on the location.” This means that even though gorillas are becoming less of an issue worldwide, Rwanda still has gorilla habitats. In addition, a trip to the northern part of Rwanda to observe gorillas as they go on with their daily life is a sight for sore eyes. Who wouldn’t want to try that amazing experience? Furthermore, VISIT RWANDA (2019) stated that the interesting opportunity to see gorillas in their normal territory is extraordinary, and a few indeed say it is a life-changing experience. Choosing to visit mountain gorillas would indeed be marvelous. Since, apart from seeing them, the hike to see them is a much-needed sport for one’s muscles and joints.

Secondly, Gorillas are one of the world’s largest primates. Therefore, adventure lovers will be thrilled by the idea of visiting Rwanda’s mountain gorillas. Adults can grow up to 440 pounds (about 200 kg) and up to five-and-a-half feet tall (Foley, 2016). It is incredible how such majestic animals can be seen in one place at the same time if you visit Rwanda. Also, gorillas aren’t born with this much weight. Gorillas are herbivores animals. This means, that their diet consists of mostly greens i.e. tree leaves, bamboo sticks, and grass among others. Sea World Parks & Entertainment (2019) argues that an adult gorilla could consume more than 18 kg of vegetation daily with no water. After all, most of the vegetation they eat has dew and water in it. All the weight these primates have originates from the amount of food they consume daily. On a trek in the northern volcanic mountains of Rwanda, one will observe gorillas of different amazing weight and strength. It will be worth all the climbing.
Lastly, gorillas are believed to be the most intelligent of other animal species. You will be surprised at how much these gorillas are intelligent. World Wide Fund for Nature (2019) says that when a female gorilla is mature, about 7 to 8 years, it is a general rule, that it will leave their group to join other groups or single males. This means that once a female gorilla is mature it will leave its family and join a single group of male gorillas to start a family of its own. Over the years, gorillas have been seen doing intelligent activities that could be considered humane, such as using bamboo to climb into their nests among others. It is of recently these same gorillas were seen doing another most intelligent activity. Discover Wild Life (2019), remarked that gorillas were recently seen using sticks to pick up ants so they don’t get bitten. This is considered highly intelligent. Differentiating between what is good, and what is bad has only been seen in humans. The above interesting facts can be seen and lived once you visit Rwanda and its mountain gorillas.
Rwanda as a country has many remarkable places to visit. But, the points explained above show that as one plans to visit Rwanda, one should visit its mountain gorillas first. You should go through all the trouble and visit Rwanda’s mountain gorillas because these gorillas are special. In a few years to come, statistics show that gorillas will be history, one will hear about them as we hear about dinosaurs. So basically, one should be excited to be part of the history and go look at these wonders. In addition, if you choose to go see these gorillas, which would be wise, you won’t regret it as gorillas have interesting facts to see like their weight, height, and level of intelligence that one would say is close to humans. You will like the Rwandan mountain gorillas, and that is for sure. Perhaps, when you go elsewhere or go back home you will tell your people a tale about Rwanda’s mountain gorillas, and they too will come and see for themselves.
