Yes, Huckleberry Finn should be banned from schools. The story is based in St. Petersburg, Missouri, it was based on the bank of the Mississippi River. The negative impact of the book about a boy who goes down a river with an escaped slave outweighed its literary benefits from the book. American High Schools have banned Huckleberry Finn because the use of the “N-word” was not “inclusive” for the students and made them very uncomfortable.

Huckleberry Finn is a book that I would not recommend in schools because of its use of the N-word and unacceptable use of how many times it uses the word. The uses of the book with Jim being an escaped slave and calling him an N-word with “ER” and calling a black man that word was unacceptable to every black person but back then it wouldn’t matter but today if it were to be used it would be a huge problem for whites calling blacks the N-word. Jim was a slave that was helped escape by Huck Finn and went downriver to be searched by robbers. Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn made up a group called “Tom Sawyer Gang”. Huck Finn was adopted by Miss.

Watson, sister of Widow Douglas. Huck Finn was living with his drunk, abusive dad, Pap, the local judge of the town, Judge Thatcher, and the widow who would get legal custody of Huck Finn. Pap has been harassing his son and a couple of months later Pap “kidnaps” his son and holds him in a cabin across the river in St. Petersburg. When Pap gets back from the town he beats Huck and one day when he was out Huck escaped and faked his own death to get away from his son by killing a pig and splattering its blood all over the cabin and going hiding in Jackson’s Island. After a few days on the island, he encountered Jim, Miss. Watson’s slave. Jim escaped from her custody after hearing that he would be sold to a plantation down the river and never get to see his wife or family again. A great storm causes the Mississippi flood and Huck and Jim spray a log raft and housing.

Huck and Jim have been forced to leave after Huck finds out that a woman onshore and her husband noticed that there’s smoke from the island and believes Jim is hiding out, Huck also finds out that there’s been a reward for the capture of Jim. Near the end of the story, Huck noticed that Jim is freed and lets him go but Tom Sawyer has been shot in the leg and neck by some farmers, which I kind of quite seem funny for Tom Sawyer. Tom was thinking of a wild plan to free Jim anyways. Huck thought that Tom’s plan would surely get all of them killed based on what he was talking about. Huck is forced to get a doctor and Jim sacrifices his freedom to nurse Tom and ends up back in chains at Phelp’s house.
