The killing of 35 people in Tasmania’s Port Arthur shooting prompted then-Prime Minister John Howard to fundamentally change the gun laws in Australia. While in the US, firearms are widely accessible with almost 89 firearms exclusive for every 100 individuals. While confinement that happens on a national level is recognized as the Brady Law, it requires record verifications for individuals who buy firearms from an authorized vendor. However, this only accounts for about 60% of the buys, leaving the remainder of the purchasers to go unchecked (McGinn et al. 2018). From the hypothesis that guns are supposedly supposed to make individuals more secure, America ought to be probably the most secure place on Earth, however, they have more gun-related deaths in the USA compared to that of Australia and New Zealand.
