Jane Austen's 'Pride and Prejudice' is basically the story of how Elizabeth and Darcy overcame all obstacles, such as their personal failure to discover romantic happiness. Jane Austen cleverly attempts to manipulate the reader`s passion for the characters in her novels, using agents of frequently successful characterization of dialogue, action, and perspective. Here, I am interested in the character of Fitzwilliam Darcy and now I am analyzing his greatness and limitations from the novel.
Jane Austen skillfully gave the reader a characteristic that they preferred in order that others might keep in mind it is terrible in actual life. Fitzwilliam Darcy, the protagonist of the novel 'Pride & Prejudice'. He is a fairly tall, handsome, rich, and proud man. He is the master of the great estate of Pemberley, an expensive estate located withinside the county of Derbyshire, and nephew of Lady Catherine de Bourgh. Darcy is a stunning and excellent character for his greatness in the novel. Darcy is generous-minded, sincere, rational, and respectful, and probably permits success and personality. Darcy is an intelligent and extreme man. Just as Darcy looks after his sister with remarkable care, he also feels secure together with his best friend Charles Bingley.
After the death of his father, he helps his former friend, Mr. Wickham, in his study by giving him money however he attempts to seduce Georgiana as a part of a nefarious scheme to achieve part of the Darcy fortune, Darcy learns of it, and sends him away. Darcy's protective nature keeps his sister from making terrible mistakes. Darcy finds Lydia fleeing with Wickham and pays Wickham to facilitate the marriage. He has love and respect even for His servants. That is why his servants call him a great and kind master. Naturally, he is a silent man. But his character has its limitations. Although Darcy is smart and honest, he additionally suffers from this weakness, the excess of his pride forces him to look down on his social inferiority. His behavior is unfriendly, aloof, and unapproachable. Almost unknowingly he was arrogant, this turned into his familiar world. Although Darcy hates the association with strangers, he is only extremely loyal and kind to those who are close to him. Darcy believes Caroline Bingley after which separated Charles Bingley and Jane Bennet. Darcy refuses to dance with Elizabeth at a ball and he thinks that any beautiful woman might be ready to marry him. He does not keep in mind Elizabeth a suitable partner in the dance. Almost all ladies consider him a proud young man. No lady desires to be interested in this kind of person. In this way, no woman feels the slightest attraction toward him. The behavior of Darcy is not descent. It is not gentlemanly. He rejects the proposal of dance and says he did not come to dance with ladies who were rejected by others. When Darcy sees Elizabeth with Wickham, he did not warn her, that is one of his limitations. When Darcy sees that Elizabeth is very attractive and suitable for him. He wants to marry her. Elizabeth, however, did not receive his proposal and tells him that it was ungentlemanly. Her refusal deeply hurts Darcy's pride. Rejection brought about an innovative change in his character. He is startled into understanding that his behavior with the women is unjust, how arrogant and assuming. Also when Lady Catherine De Bourgh heard a rumor that Darcy and Elizabeth were going to be engaged and she informed Elizabeth that the match between her nephew and daughter will not be ruined. Elizabeth wonders how Darcy would react to his aunt's denunciation of her, however, Darcy returns and goes to Mr. Bennet to ask for him for his consent to the match with Elizabeth, which is also one of the greatness of his love for Elizabeth. Jane Austen was a made of enlightenment, a time in history when the purpose was precious and innumerable romantic traditions evolved slowly. In all of her works, Austen employs irony, satire, and humor to expose how ridiculous traditional Victorian rural lifestyles were. Here, Elizabeth develops prejudice against him. Gradually he came out of the trap of his arrogance. In fact, his haughtiness made him typically bungle his courtship. Here, Jane Austen used her tremendous moving force for Darcy's awareness and change in himself in 'Pride and Prejudice'. In fact, Darcy's sense of social superiority offends people, it additionally promotes some of his better traits.
