The current issues in the United States regarding the recent abortion ban legislation brought back into the spotlight the discussions about this controversial topic. The debate is between pro-choice and ‘so-called’ pro-life movements arguing that abortions should either be legalized or banned altogether. The pro-life movement argues that even a nonviable, undeveloped human life is sacred and must be protected by the government. On the contrary, the pro-choice view considers pregnancy as being subject to the mother’s choice about her own body. I believe in pro-choice as it gives the option to refrain from abortion if it goes against someone’s morals but does not compromise the options of others. At the same time, I also believe there should be ethical considerations and strict procedures around abortion in line with its severity.
There are many factors influencing the difficult choice of going through the procedure. The reasons why a woman chooses to abort can range from economic issues to medical complications to rape. This is why there has been much controversy surrounding Alabama’s new law given that it does not take into account or allow exceptions for cases such as rape or incest which is in line with the view of pro-life where the interests of the unborn fetus are placed above everything else. However, ignorance of individual circumstances is wrong when the unaffected majority makes legislation without even trying to understand the other perspective, making value-driven decisions on behalf of the affected minority by a life-changing issue
All of us are ‘pro-life’. We all believe in the right to live a safe, healthy, and happy life, no matter what your age, gender, or economic circumstance.

This brings up the next point that banning abortions alludes to more issues as it is a fact that criminalizing abortion won’t stop the occurrence of abortions, it will just make them less safe. This new law restricting access to abortions, causes people to be compelled to resort to clandestine, unsafe abortions. Why the promise of a new life would be worth more than an already existing one?
ECONOMIC: You’re pro-life until you see that your daughter is unable to finish university and, consequently, she would never find a good-paying job reaching her full potential. You see your daughter raising her kid as a single mother as the father is unable to grow up to his responsibilities, himself being just an irresponsible kid. You see your grandchild fall behind as his mother is required to work at low-paying jobs unable to pay for her child’s education, making him inherit the disadvantage. ………..Among dropouts, statistics showed that 30% of young girls do not finish high school as a result of pregnancy. And CONTRARILY fewer than 2% will finish college by the age of 30. These young women are 65% less likely to accomplish a degree than women who do not have children
Bringing unwanted children into this world, with the means of improper care and love is restraining the pursuit of happiness in these children. If an individual can’t ensure a child with a healthy life, then the point of bringing the child into this world is not useful but rather causes more problems that should have never erupted in the beginning. Should an individual be obligated to go through a nine-month pregnancy, experience childbirth, or subsequently the mental strain of raising or giving the child up for adoption? Consequently, this means that the individual rights a woman has are not only for herself but also for the child relying on her. As a taxpayer would you like to pay the unemployment welfare of a child grew into poverty? To be avoided at all costs but there can be circumstances where it is the least bad option. The common belief that abortion is a terrible thing, a choice for those irresponsible teenagers who get pregnant is that lots of more stressful arguments go into abortion.
