The first use of genetically modified crop (GM crops) is to increase their yields, enhanced nutrition, and resistance to disease. So, how do they do it? To product a GM crops, the scientist first transfers a modified DNA to a parent plant cells, and the seeds product by these parents’ plant will also have the modified DNA in them. So, the next generation product by these seeds will be a GM crops. But our concern is that better than the organic crops? As we all know that normally the crops that we eat like rice and corn cannot grow well in nature, it needs the help from human to protect them from disease, and another animal. And the traditional way that we use to protect them is apply a chemical on the plants. Buts this method also has their side effect, like the chemical also kill other insect that benefit the plant, and if we use to much of these chemical it will destroy the soils and chemical can get absorb in to the crops itself.

So, this is where GM plant and crops come in, because the GM crops is already having the genes that protect them from disease, framer do not need to use any other kind of chemical, so this is a worry-free for us about any left-over chemical. For example, one of the most common method use in GE crops is “Bacillus thuringiensis, or Bt” (Tucker, Bt-coin, pp 1, 2011.) Also, according to this article, the Bt genes was encoded into the plant DNA, so that the plant can product protein that can have protect them from mosquitoes, root worms, beetles, the sun and UV light. Also, the genes will not have attack on “mammals, fish, or birds, and they appear safe for consumers” (Tucker, Bt-coin, pp 3, 2011.) Also, because this method doesn’t require application of any other chemical it is good for famer and environment.

Another benefit the GM plants bring us is reduce the hunger and product more food. As the current population is more than 7 billion nowadays. The tradition method of producing food, become more and inefficiency because of disease, bug, lag of water, sudden change in weather. All of that condition, it made harder and harder for famer to product enough food to feeding everyone. Another side effect of using too much chemical is, it will create a weed with chemical resistance, which mean famer cannot eliminate the weed without harming their crops. Therefore, it decreases the yields of these crops, and the decreasing in farming mean a decreasing food supplies, which mean food will become more expensive and more people will die because of no food.

So, what happened if we use GM plant instead of traditional methods? With GM plant, its DNA have been modified so that that plants will have more resistance to disease, resistance to sudden change in weather, yield more crop, and use less water. Therefor GM plants bring a huge benefit not just to farmer but also it can help the world to increase the food supplies and decreases the hunger in place where food is hard to grown. For example, according to Raman “from 1996–2013, they generated $117.6 bn over 17 years in global farm income benefit alone. The global yearly net income increased by 34.3% in 2010–2012. Furthermore, while increasing global yield by 22%, GM crops reduced pesticide (active ingredient) usage by 37% and environmental impact (insecticide and herbicide use) by 18%.”(Raman, 2018, pp 11.) . This example, one more time show us that modification of DNA in plaint and crop is asolutly needed, and very importance for food industries, and human
