Democracy: In Today’s World
In today’s world, we are living in a modern and civilized era powered by technology. This all started a long while ago when all the nations started building. In different nations among different people civilization took place to make them stronger. People emerged as integrity as a whole with their diversity, locality, language, and systems. But what kind of system is perfect to make them stronger, more powerful, and more civilized toward their own nation? The answer is Democracy. Democracy is a system of government in which laws, policies, leadership, and major undertakings of a state or other polity are directly or indirectly decided by the “people,” a group historically constituted by only a minority of the population (e.g., all free adult males in ancient Athens or all sufficiently propertied adult males in 19th-century Britain) but generally understood since the mid-20th century to include all (or nearly all) adult citizens.
This Democracy is a very old, generic, and reliable system for a group of people to make as a whole and work together. Studies of contemporary non-literate tribal societies and other evidence suggest that democracy, broadly speaking, was practiced within tribes of hunter-gatherers in prehistoric times. The transition to settled agricultural communities led to inequalities of wealth and power between and within communities and hierarchical nondemocratic forms of social organization. Thousands of years later, in the 6th century BCE, a relatively democratic form of government was introduced in the city-state of Athens Cleisthenes. This is the most probably known first Democratic rule for people in history.
Democracy: Positive essence for the better rule (Advantages).
1. This Creates a more reliable system for people.
States with democratic governments prevent rule by autocrats, guarantee fundamental individual rights, allow for a relatively high level of political equality, and rarely make war on each other. As compared with nondemocratic states, they also better foster human development as measured by indicators such as health and education, provide more prosperity for their citizens, and ensure a broader range of personal freedoms.
2. There is more consistency available in a democracy than in other government structures.
There is more unity in the governing process with democracy because the general population holds the right to vote on resolutions. This arrangement can take different styles, but the result is generally the same. Each person gets the chance to express their view at their polling stations by casting a vote. That process allows each community to continue pursuing the specific results that they feel are helpful, or they can switch directions to try something new.
The structure of democracy makes it possible for everyone to come together in a way that forms society in ways that are helpful for virtually all people.
3. It promotes equality.
Generally, democracy is based on the rule of equality, which means that all people are equal as far as the law is concerned. Every person has the right to experience and enjoy equal political, social, and economic rights, and the state is not allowed to discriminate against him on the standard of sex, class, religion, and property.
Democracy: It also required a better vision (Disadvantages).
1. It risks the wrong choice of public servants.
Truth be told, not all individuals under a democratic government are aware of the political and social circumstances in their country. In a voting system, the majority wins, and there is no distinction between the votes cast by the literate and the illiterate. People may favor a candidate based on other factors other than pure and required capability. Taking these things into consideration, the elected official may not always be the perfect person for the seat, leading to erroneous decisions.
2. It may put more emphasis on quantity, rather than quality.
Another disadvantage of democracy is in terms of providing services—it tends to put more emphasis on quantity, rather than quality. Also, considering that the system might be governed by irresponsible and incompetent leaders, equality might be in question for only the rich and famous might be prioritized more than the poor.
3. It can take longer to make decisions.
Because it takes longer to make decisions, it will also take longer to implement them. Unlike in a monarchy where one person is making decisions that are implemented quickly, democracy requires majority voting in implementation, thus it is relatively less prompt in taking actions.
Conclusion:
Democracy is one of the most acquired rules into the action by people for them. Democracy is not only the most acquired system but also is also a very convenient system for people to leave, raise and emerge together. In a Democratic country or region, it is very important part that every citizen is free to choose their decision and they are responsible for their choice for the future. For a better future people must have the right to select their future as a good leader, and a good efficient government for them and their country. Yes, there are some disadvantages to democracy but people can make this system better, more reliable, responsible, and more secure for their future.
