Soldier. A person who serves in an army force and protects further generations but what if we see past the good? Many individuals have certain views on this for instance people truly believe it’s for the greater good, however, others brutally object and think it’s a waste of life on the battlefield. Most of the deaths during these horrific wars are children this is due to bombs being dropped on schools. In a society always on the edge of war this prompts the question, if a soldier commits murder can everyone? So where do we draw the line?

Some people believe it’s for the greater good in the sense that people are living due to others dying This therefore creates a feeling of safety as we think that all of the “bad guys” are no longer alive. As a result of this, it can provide a sense of safety as all the people who we are fighting against are not able to harm anybody now. Nowadays and many years ago you had to kill the bad guys to save lives well the soldiers would take over and do this for us. During the Holocaust, approximately seven out of ten Jews were killed because of who they were. It is known that roughly six million Jewish people were murdered. It was such a terrible thing but no one was arrested or given any charges as it was okay for them to do this as they had the title to do so but just because they might be a soldier should not mean they have the right to brutally torture people.

A reason why people are against soldiers killing people is that it is not the soldiers themselves that kill the “bad guys” it is the government that is to blame as it is most commonly the government or the prime ministers of a country who organize these mass killing events, not the soldiers, they are used because they have the title to kill other individuals. To become part of the army you can be as young as sixteen years old many decades ago when you turned a certain age the boys of the family were sent away to fight and had no choice whether to stay at home as it was almost dictatorial and conscription if they somehow refused they would get abuse for this as the young men would receive a white feather from the suffragettes this made it known what males had refused to go, so, in this case, most young men went but would sadly not return.

War. It can result in peace. It can preserve a country for future generations. War is not likely to result in peace as it is not peaceful when it’s happening but there’s always hope for it to end peacefully. Looking at it from a different point of view it can be very beneficial to future generations as the country could become greater because of the war and history it has gone through this allows future generations to grow up as the soldiers in the war have fought to protect what they have got now. The country could have won the war and it is also something that young men and women and everyone collectively can be proud of as their grandfathers, fathers, or even uncles could have participated in making their country a home and safe place for what could be in the future their children and so on. This does not mean it's suitable for soldiers to kill other humans just to have others think highly of them as it is people’s lives that are being played about with here as it's not just a game.

As a result of peace many folk die before this, This is due to them being conscripted at a young age such as eighteen cause of this is that there aren’t enough people volunteering but conscription is actually a law that says if you are able or fit to fight then you must fight and there could be possible consequences if they don’t join the army and fight as they have been told to. The large number of young men who have been conscripted have died this means they can’t go home and have a family of their own when war is over and be proud of the things they have achieved as they have saved many lives and can tell these stories to their own children. This could wipe out generations as the age limit is too low to be conscripted. During WW2 there were over seventy million human losses and twenty million of these fatalities were soldiers who fought in the war but these deaths were deliberate due to starvation, mass bombing and shooting, diseases, and massacres. This again relates back to the question, where do we draw the line? These horrific ways of people sadly dying are not okay and this is why things need to be changed around this subject as it is too serious not to be spoken about in a serious matter I believe families should be offered more support when things like these do happen.

In conclusion, the law states this is true and we have to trust it, the law decides what’s wrong and what’s right. If the law says it’s legal for a soldier to kill an individual we need to trust and believe that law as it is potentially what our lives could depend on if something seriously bad was to happen and therefore in this case it’s the soldiers job to protect the country they are fighting for and the citizens within the country too. This then relates back to the topic of the government making these decisions and controlling what happens with the army forces and we don’t know if these vital decisions are worth it until these wars and brutal attacks are over and done with when the army has either saved more lives than what could have potentially been lost lives. This is one of the downsides of citizens not being included in these things as it’s just the case of waiting for us as we don’t know what’s going on. Many older people or really young people don’t fully understand the reasons for war to happen and could become paranoid about these things so for cases like this, the government should provide younger and older people with helplines or websites where they can find advice and information as well as live updates so they feel safe and included.
