Fear is the largest obstacle one can face. The Alchemist teaches the importance of not letting your fear get in the way of accomplishments. Santiago is told throughout the story that there is no need to fear something if you are capable of overcoming it and reaching your dream. Fear is a test and if you don’t want to fail you have to face it. Santiago faces his fears many times throughout his journey. He beats his fear and ultimately succeeds in the end.
It’s the simple things in life that are the most extraordinary Alchemist teaches that the simple things in life are the best in life. Santiago learns that we need to stop and appreciate the things in our lives that we take for granted. When you notice and appreciate these things you learn to be more appropriate towards life and be happier. By the end of the book Santiago appreciates life and everything around him.
There are no closed doors in life. The alchemist teaches that all doors that are closed are not locked. What that means is that the doors are closed but they are closed for you to open them yourself. With hard work and commitment you can open any door you want. Santiago works hard to reach his legend and in the end, he reaches it. Santiago’s success shows how anyone can do it as long as you don’t give up.
Be unrealistic Alchemist explains the importance of looking at something with your imagination. Santiago likes to look at the world based on what he would like to see happen and not what is happening. By doing this it allows you to come up with good ideas. Many of the things in the world looked impossible and unrealistic in the past but are now reality. Trying to be unrealistic doesn’t show how immature you are. If we all use our imaginations then these far-fetched ideas we come up with can be invented and one day reality.
Make your own decisionsIn life many people will try to influence and guide us to a specific future. People will tell you what you should do in your life but at the end of the day, you need to do what makes you happy. The reality is that only you know what you want to do. In the book Santiago had to make this decision and he chose what makes him happy. Even though that’s not what anyone thought he would do he was able to enjoy his life. Santiago shows how many people can make the choice that he was able to make. The world has been very unhappy for a while but this message can help change that.
