With this appeal, I wish to express my desire to pursue a master's degree at the Swedish Institute for Global Professionals under the scholarship program.
I am a postgraduate and a bachelor of electrical engineering degree holder student from the National Higher Polytechnic Institute of the University of Bamenda. I plan to follow up with a two-year master’s degree after I graduate. Before my bachelor’s degree, I had this dream ever since I started studying engineering in my institute that I want to pursue a master’s degree abroad. Renewable energy is my field of study that I came to discovered I was passionate in through the professional experience I got during my training while in school. Although I had no clue when and how to go about it. Along the way of my research a came across this Swedish Institute Scholarship for Global Professionals opportunity. Which I found it as a road map for me to start pursuing my career and dreams. My bachelor’s degree was obtained at the fourth year of my studies, in which I got a four months professional experience in this field of my study at an enterprise that deals with renewable energy. This experience was as a result of a professional internship opportunity given to us by the institute to assimilate theoretical knowledge together with practices. My final year research project was titled ‘Design and Realization of a Pay-As-You-Go System for Sale of Solar Home Systems’, under the supervision of Professor Nfah Mbaka Eustace. While at the industry with this opportunity that I had, I got to acquire more soft skills and improve on some of my skills like leadership skill, effective communication skill, teamwork and collaboration skills and problem-solving skills.
This scholarship opportunity will help me to be open to different ideas and opinions, which is what one needs as a future leader. Through this scholarship, I will welcome the opportunity getting to know so many people from different backgrounds as I will get to appreciate others people culture and ways of living. Last but not the least, it will give me the opportunity to maintain the created network through these Sweden Alumni Network. Moreover, the master’s degree I apply for is relevant to my previous studies and my professional experience. This master’s degree will help me to diverse my field of expertise for the greater good of my country. Also, to be able to learn and acquire more knowledge and skills. Sweden is with its best and highly rank university and its renowned professional academic experience and reputation in sustainability and innovation.
Looking ahead my long-term goals and aim to be an expert in my field, I see myself running my own solar company, creating my own business. For my short-term goals, I have to focus and gain more knowledge under this field, learning as much as possible and networking. It would be an honor and the beginning of a road full of opportunities to harness new prospect by gaining benefits from further education in a reputed institute. If I get this scholarship, that will help me to develop on my expertise level and experience in my field. To add, it will help me develop on my leadership skills. My purpose in getting this scholarship is to widen, broaden my network and level of specialty in this field as I will get to learn new things. I intend to benefit, share experience and knowledge with my colleagues about my country. After my studies in Sweden, I will like to contribute my knowledge in meeting the Sustainable Development Goals in my country.
I am very motivated and I appreciate your consideration. In addition, I look forward to have this opportunity to contribute a quarter of my experience and knowledge to help fulfilling the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
