I would like to express my wish to study MSc Global Public Health at Canterbury Christ Church University. When I was a child under 10 my father was working with a United Kingdom' based International NGO (the Halo Trust). He was always talking about his British friends and British culture. Later, while he was working as Communication Manager for with the United Nations Peacekeeping Programme of Disarmament, Demobilization and Reintegration (DDR), his Boss, was again a UK citizen (Peter Babington), and was such a nice man. I remember that time my mom was sick, and my father had to spent almost his salary on the treatment of my mom, Peter gave him two grades in his job. The increase in his salary was enough to cover the cost of medication of my mom.
While I grownup and I went to the English classes, I have started searching about the UK and education in the UK. I have learnt that British higher education and qualifications have an impressive international reputation. Study in UK opens doors, wherever you go in the world. Studying in the UK will help me develop excellent language skills. The English language is of crucial importance in todayâs global business arena and, in fact, English is the language of Queen, it means British are the original speaker of English.
According to the information available on the google engine, one in four world leaders has studied in the UK. In my country the Afghans who studied in UK became Ministers and working in high ranking position and I canât see any of them looking for a job. The current Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Hanif Atmar has studied in UK. The former National Security Director Mr. Mohammad Masoom Stanekzai studied in UK.
As I know, UK is a country of Law, respect, value, culture and a very high standard of diplomacy with special respect to the women and children and postgraduate courses in the UK tend to be shorter than in other countries which can help me to keep the cost of tuition fees and living expenses down.
Canterbury Christ Church University is much more genuine and the staff and students care for each other. The welcoming and communal experience of Christ Church, Christ Church Goes the EXTRA mile with cultural internationalism, It doesnât stop there⦠the opportunities are limitless!, Student ambassador opportunities and BEYOND!, The integration of a city and nature you never knew you needed, Canterbury and Christ Church have SO much to offer. The campus is a good size and there is loads of nearby
accommodation so it means you can roll out of bed and be there quickly. The University welcoming, supportive and international university with global connections, located in the historic city of Canterbury, This University is a friendly and vibrant community of more than 17,000 students and staff, their national and international partnerships help to make our work and our graduates relevant to the changing world around us. For these reasons I am interested in studying at Canterbury Christ Church University.
I have many reason why I choose my mind to further my education in Global Public Health in the United Kingdom. The work of global public health professionals and is important because public health initiatives affect people every day in every part of the world. It addresses broad issues that can affect the health and wellbeing of individuals, families, communities, populations and societies-both now and for generations to come. Global Public Health globally help keep people alive and other programs such like increase life expectancy; worldwide reduction in infant and child mortality; eradication and reduction of many communicable diseases. The advent of global pandemic has seen Public Health as the driver or emergency required by World Health Organization (WHO) to combat further spread which has been destroying the health and life of human beings all over the world. I see it as a challenging field where I could improve and upgrade my medical trade so as to support the fight in our society. Furthermore, I am from Afghanistan and I noticed many outstanding persons in my medical field studied abroad at one time or the other so as to improve our local society.
As a recently graduated medical doctor, a Global Public health to me, means collective solution to the health problem, it means long terms solution to the health problem, it means social and economy development and it means building a healthy nation. I believe that each medical doctor should have the knowledge of public that is why I would like to do my masterâs in global public health.
With all the financial support that is currently coming to Afghanistan since the last 20 years, In my country, health system is harshlydamaged, and it got worse in 2001-2017. it does need a strong attention. Right now, there are 690,000 children with acute malnutrition (Afghanistan Demographic Survey 2017). Stunting that is one of largest nutrition problem in Afghanistan, according the national nutrition survey 2015 of the
Government 41% of the people are somehow malnourished that is really the worse news for the country. If the government donât put attention that problem can go generation by generation and we wonât be able to solve it in the future.
To take it short the understanding of the public health is vital for each medical doctor, each politician and for each government. In fact, Global Public health create the foundation of health in each country.
After completing my msaster in the United Kingdom, I will return back to my country and will focus on two things. To reform the health policies and to play key role in establishment of the health system. I will support the need people through my profession. It means I will be engaged with people in both policy and community level.
