The topic of this extended essay is surrounding the well known character of Nikola Tesla and his scientific developments and inventions. The specific question being explored in this extended essay is: To what extent were Tesla’s scientific discoveries revolutionary and how did they impact the development of science in Europe in the 19th and 20th centuries?
This extended essay aims to uncover in what ways was the character of Nikola Tesla developed technology that would be influential in changing the day to day lives of the people. For this extended essay two primary sources that cover the topic will be evaluated and consulted. The first source evaluated is the book called My Inventions and Other Writings by by Nikola Tesla himself. The fact that the extended essay is based on the author of this primary source makis this source truly reliable since he is the one who developed the revolutionaries discoveries himself. This book is an autobiography of his personal and scientific life. The only limitation that can be concerning is that since the book was written by himself other points of view different than his are unavailable. Most importantly we are unable to the the impact he had on upcoming generations and the long term effects of his work.
The second source being evaluated is a biography on Nikola Tesla by Marc Seifer. He is an experienced author who worked in the five-part History Channel mini-series THE TESLA FILES . The book being evaluated is named Wizard: The Life & Times of Nikola Tesla: Biography of a Genius . This source cover the limitations of the previous one. This biography was written nearly 40 years after Nikola Tesla’s death. This allows for long term results to be uncovered. The only limitation with would be the fact that the author has no background on the science behind Nikola Tesla’s developments.
