People who are obese or having their BMI greater than 25 have a higher chance of getting health disease. Obesity is a chronic disease which spread all over the world especially among youngster. “The epidemic is fueled by the growing rate of obesity in adolescents of 17%.
Organization (WHO) estimates that, in the year 2010, overweight and obesity caused 3.4 million deaths (5 %) and resulted in 3.9 % of YLL and 3.8 % of disability-adjusted life years (DALY) worldwide. No country in the world reduced the prevalence of obesity-related disease between 2000 and 2013. Obesity ranks third in social burdens created by human beings after smoking and armed violence” (Blackstone 7). The rise in obesity is due to the reductions in physical activity and changes in nutritional practices. Our life is now surrounded by the comfort which is leading us toward the unhealthy lifestyle and making us into couch potatoes. All these reasons for obesity are not making the appearance of our body looks bad but internally it is causing so many diseases, which is only happening due to the unhealthy lifestyle. To conquer this difficulty, we should know the causes of obesity: Physical inactivity, Unhealthy eating lifestyle and phycological or medical factors.

The human body requires a properly balanced diet to stay fit and healthy. The rise of junk food among children rises at a frequent rate. It is an emerging trend which leads to health problems as obesity. “The children risk of developing taste for fast food from their early life and they become addictive because it seems attractive and delicious to them while they don’t know about the negative impact on their health. Children keep feeding on processed food and rapidly grow a taste for fried foods, snacks and sugary drinks or beverages. They seem to have lost the instinct to consume fruits, vegetables and meats in the unprocessed form. A study published in the journal of American dietetic association shows that 800 of 2000 calories intake by a typical child daily are attributable to added sugar and solid fats.
The macronutrients are often referred to as “empty calories” since they have scanty nutrients but contribute significantly to the childhood obesity problem. It is now known that children who early in develop taste for junk food run a greater risk of developing weight problem as they grow (Pugmire, & Lynos, 533-546). However, junk or fast food which only contain lots of carbohydrate and non-essential fats which can give instant energy for a while, the nutrition value of this kind of food have least protein and minerals, all it contains is fast digestion carbohydrate and fats which is the cause of building fats in the body. When you eat carbohydrate, the excess carbs stored in your body in form fat “Studies have shown that sugary drinks are associated with lower diet quality or a less healthful diet. High sugary drinks consumption is often associated with lower milk intake and is also related to inadequate intake of vitamins and other nutrients such as folate and magnesium” (Libuda et al.2).
The consumption of sugary drinks or beverages takes more time to burn off the calories as its totally unhealthy and should be replaced with some diary. While, obesity doesn’t cause overnight and eliminating processed food doesn’t give any result because these foods only stimulate the habit formation in brain or addiction which result in craving. The main reason for the cause of obesity is the overeating and unhealthy eating habits of a person not the junk food and beverages.
